You can get a chain link tool that will seperate one line to make the chain unlinked. You use the too again to remove a link or a section, and then put it back together. There's usually a start/stop point in the chain where the cross pin can be pushed out using this tool.
Way back when I was a little girl, most chains came with the removable clip on the "master link". You could pop the clip off with a flat-head screwdriver. Use a punch to remove one link, then reassemble the "master link".

I have most of the miscellaneous links that you'd need, lemme know what size and I also have the roller chain tools required. I know some roller chains use cotter pins to secure the master link, some use spring clips, but a lot of motor cycle chains are bastard sized and have pressed and pinged master links so look at what you need and let me/us know.
use a grinder and punch if you dont want to buy the tool
