Here is my never ending headache

As most of you know I have been aquiring parts in an effort to get the most out of the car and keep it reliable. I have made some progress and figured I would follow the lead of several others and post an update.

Isn't wiring fun? LOL! While I don't own any of those products, I do know my way around 87-93 wiring and EFI in a generic sense, so if there's anything I can do to help, let me know..

The good thing is there is limted connections to make since all the factory engine harness and computer are gone. I need to find a switched 12v in the run/crank position. I also need to call FAST and MSD to clear up a couple of questions I have.

Made a little more progress today. I might be jinxing myself but after making my calls to FAST and MSD everything seems really easy to hook up. Aside from running power and grounds there is only a positive and negative to the coil, a switched 12 source, and a points wire from the FAST to MSD. Now that I have said it, I'm sure the car will not start for some reason.

As long as the FAST is getting an ignition signal from the distributor it should run just fine. Good luck! :)

My update for the week is I haven't touched the car in a week. At this pace I think Chris's car will run before mine. Maybe I can find some time this week to run some wires.

I've made some progress on the car but not as much as I would have liked. I think I have most of the wiring figured out and just need to actually run the wires. If I dedicate just a little bit of time this week I think I can actually have the car running by the weekend. If that happens, it will be the first time since mid September since the car last started. Let's hope for the best and see if the car will run with the new additions.

Ok. I'm going out to work on the car. Hopefully I will have some update worthy news in a few hours.


I was able to get the fuel pump wiring finished up and the fuels returns and supply lines are done. Tomorrow I am going to pick up a switch for the fan and finish the fan wiring. I also hope to prime the oil pump and stab the new distrubutor. After that it will be time to plug the computer in and start setting up the FAST. If I get it running this week it will be over at Fatal on Monday for a little time on the Dyno.

We're getting close. Joe came over today and he gave me a hand finishing a few things. The wiring is Finally finished and we stabbed the new Distributor. I gotta call FAST tomorrow and get an update for my ECU as well and order the data logger file from them. That is all for now and with some luck it might start before the week ends.

It runs! Not real smooth yet but it fires up and idles. I have a few things to sort out and then Saturday I should be meeting Ben for some tuning.

Congrats Mike!!! What was the issue with it not starting yesterday?

There was no file loaded in the ECU, basicly I was trying to start the car with a blank ECU. Talked with a guy at FAST and about 10 minutes of walking me through a couple of things the car started. I have it where I can just turn the key and the car with start and idle without having to give it any throttle. I might play with the the cranking fuel table tomorrow when I get off work to see if I can get it to idle a little better. It's idleing around 750 right now but it's real rough and seems too low.
