Had it on display for labor day weekend took a few pics. He's running the same fuel and EFI set up as I am (there is hope still) and running 21psi on the blower. Basically a Y trim but RR. Car weighs 3200 with him in it - sweet ride. Very clean and on occasion street driven. Has plans for running in outlaw next year.

He has a LONG ways to go to reach low 7's if he hopes to be competetive in Outlaw next year. Sweet ride though.

ahahahahaha! I didn't mean it to sound like I was picking on the car simply because it has a mod motor. You state its a 9 sec car and plans on running it in Outlaw next year. I was mearly stating he is gonna have to drop a good 2 seconds cause the Outlaw cars are running some low 7's now.

That is FFW. If he runs the NMRA super street outlaw series he wont have to get to low 7s but will need a low 8 to be competative to win. Their last race qualified from a 7.98 to a 9.98 out of 21 people . They have to run a maximum 28.6 by10.6 tire, unlike FFW which can run a 33 by 10.5W, a much larger tire.
The problem is all the races are across the country from down here in Houston.

Aaahhhh ok. I guess I should start paying better attention to the NMRA race pages. I follow FFW since its the only close event I can actually participate in.

Yea FFW really changed up the rules for 2002. Basically the older Pro cars can run in this class with a slightly smaller tire.
They lowered the weight way down, bigger tires, 4 links, etc.

It is really not outlaw any more IMHO. It's baby pro.
They should have just left the rules alone, that is what made the class was the small tires. It took car's like Alex's out of competition without completely rebuilding everything.

Add FFW's Outlaw class to the list of classes you average Joe Smoe can't afford now. Personally I think they did it cause of the safety issue. Outlaw was always the best class to watch. It was intresting to see who could put the power those cars make on small tire. Its just not the same anymore IMO.

Ya I have to agree. They probably did it for safety but other than that, dont like it. I guess we can just hope the people of NMRA will open their eyes and see all the great tracks and competion here in Texas and schedule a race down here. From what it sounds like, they are doing VERY well and are even slowly stealing the fire from FFW

You and Shane are correct. This was their reason. I keep up with all of this on their boards. FFW also mandated wheelie bars in Outlaw. It really took away the show some of these guys put on.
My big point is that the cars are so much faster in FFW now that they are probably more dangerous. I read posts from some of the Pro guys and when they were mid to high 7s could still control the car. I read something Steve Grebek said about the car he lost his life in was about how little he felt like he was in control of this car comparing to his previously slower ride.
These rule changes are why NMRA races have the larger turn outs.
World Ford Challenge rules usually reflect NMRA but they allowed back half cars this year with the smaller 28 by 10.5 tire and more weight so everybody could race.

I remember seeing that car at FFW/Ennis last year and was just talking to Steve @ HP about it.

8's are currently being done on mod-motors. (http://www.dfwstangs.net/vb222/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55336)

Ben, one of the quickest cars in the true 10.5 tire class Alex ran in was a 98 model with a 4v mod motor and a turbo. He was running some mod 8's. This was before he lost contol and hit the wall in the last round of qualifying.

I wonder if that was Randy from True Blue performance. Was it white in front, blue in back, and checkered right around the area by the back of the doors? If so, that car ran 8's with STOCK 5.4 heads.

No Fred, this car was solid yellow. It wasn't badly damaged it the wreck as it just grazed the wall with the left front and should be easily fixed as it looked like the only damage was cosmetic.

I have no idea Ben. I did not feel like waiting two hours for my dial-up to DL the video of the links you posted. :blue:

Well I'll save you the drama. I'm pretty we're both talking about the same car. The one in the videos is an 8 sec, yellow, turbo'd, mod motor.

I'll bet there aren't many cars out there that fit that description.

Yeah more then likely it is the same car. I mentioned it being a 98 model. Actually I was not sure. I just know its a SN95 model. I believe this car was out of the Austin/San Antonio area and was another product of the Murillow Motorsports clan. It was pitted with the turbo coupe that ran the 8.35 (also tuned by Murillow). He has a little body work to do after Sat night. He did a hell of a job keeping it fom hitting the wall very hard.
