If I bought a tranny from a salvage yard what car could I get a stronger tranny from that will bolt up, Anything come factory with the t56?:confused:

Fbody one wont work, without changing stuff in it, which wouldn't be worth the cashola.

what about the newer cobras, same t-45?

the '03 is the only Cobra, so far, with the T-56.

The rest are T-45 or T5.

Actually the 01 Cobra's came with tremec 3650's. Not sure if they were on the 99's too. But the 3650's are not much better (if any) then the T-45's.

If you wish to upgrade to a better 5-speed tranny, you best bet is either a Tremec 3550 or a TKO. The only down-fall to these transmissions ans they are a little notchy and take some getting used to. I used to have a TKO in my car for a short time. I had hell shifting it quickly at the track. I then went back to the origional T-5 and found I could shifter it better and faster then I ever could.

I remember being told that the 94-95 GT's T-5 is comparable to the World Class version and was stronger for those two years? I hope so cuz I keep waiting for mine to grenade itself every time I go to the track.
