For those that weren't following. Ben had a little bet that Tim aka Capt Insane0 wouldn't make a 9 second pass by 12/31/07 in any car. Well, Bad Chad decided to let Tim drive his low 9 second 67/68 camaro to try to make said pass.
They had planned on hitting HRP on Saturday, but it was closed (so I guess Tim will never get to go 9s now, because 1/8 mile don't count!). So they went to HMP for the King of Htown run on Sunday. After the races were over, Chad let Tim drive. The rest can be read on the above post!
Several people warned Chad and I damn sure wouldn't have let Tim put it to the floor on only 3 passes! Hell even my slow ass 6.60 car can easily become a handful on the top end of the track.
At least Tim makes enough money to repair the damage he caused. I mean come on, all he used to Talk about was how much money he made at such a young age. :blah: :blah: :blah:

Its terrible that he wrecked but Chad is a weird guy sometimes. Lets a bunch-o-morons drive his car. Like fat rob and insano. Thats like tossing keys to a viper to ur 16yr old and saying drive safe tonight!

Chad's wife just responded, Costka said the car is totalled! Looks like Tim will be buying Chad a rolling chassis soon!

What is sad is that Ben's bet with TIM was for a 9 second slip in HIS car....not Chad's. Tim will still owe Ben the crisp $100 bill, but at this point I think that is the worst of his problems. LOL.

Or letting your 14 y/o son park the new Shelby in the garage. :nono:

The biggest thing I saw there is that not many people seem to really care for Tim. Sure he runs his mouth and stirs up a lot of crap, but he could have been hurt or killed. Glad he's ok. No one, no matter how much of an ass they are on the board, deserves to be killed.
At least he is stepping up to pay for the damages (or so he says).

Actually my bet was for Tim to make a 10.99 or better pass in his GTO by 12/31/07. His car won't be finished in time.

Think he'll pay up, or is he gonna bitch out and make excuses?
BTW, that thread is hillarious! Can't say no one warned the Camaro owner this might happen... and that Tim guy acting like he knows all about driving a high powered car because he goes to the strip a lot.... LOL!!!! Driving a car like that is 85% "feel" and reflexes responding before you can even think about it. You can't get that by talking to people.
I'm the 1st to acknoledge I need more seat time in my junk before going any faster, even though I was lucky enough to keep it out of the wall on one very close occasion... car drifted to the left, I didn't lift (mistake), then it came around HARD to the right, crossed the center and came a foot or so from the wall before I got it back straight. Wish I had THAT on video!
Would love to see clear video of the run... until then I'll reserve final judgement on Tim's "skillz" :)

Doesn't he still owe Shane a keg of beer?

is it just me....or did he stay on the throttle way after the 1/8th was over?

It's a real shame Tim had to destroy a nice car just to prove the rest of us right.

I have never talked to Tim in person, but I have seen alot of the posts he has made in the pass. As so many people have said, you cannot learn how a car is going to react or what it will do unless yoy drive it. I'm sorry Chad let Tim run the car and I hope Tim makes things right with him. I can tell you from experience that you can tell a difference when a car is running a 1/2 second quicker, much less 2 1/2 sec. quicker than you have ever gone before. Tim was warned and did not listen and as a result we can all see the result.
Chad, Did the parachute go "POOF" on that pass? haha. Glad you kept it out of the wall and were able to keep it in one piece to make passes another time.
After watching the video several times, there could be a couple of reasons why this happened.
1. It's Tim
2. Tim hit the brakes too hard and caused the rear to unload.
3. It's Tim
4. There could have been something on the track that caused the car to get loose.
5. It's Tim
6. Tim did not ease off the throttle and caused the rear to unload.
7. and last but certainly not leat. " It's Tim".

Mike,
I think your list sums it up clearly and concisely...
What a waste of a car, and -nothing- good is going to come from it, IMHO...

Holy crap. After being gone all these years, I would have thought Tim would have given up by now, but it looks as though he is still full of it. This is too bad. Looks like some things may never change.

After seeing the video, it sounds like he was mashing the brake pedal and throttle pedal at the same time after the traps. He was probably too excited that he was finally ahead of somebody going down the track for once he he.

Captain Insano - Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

LOL! Guess I'll never live that one down. No, I had both hands on the wheel and my ass clenched tight enough to make diamonds out of turds.
That vid looks like pure driver error to me. That 1st "wobble" should not have been that difficult to come back from... looks like he over-corrected. Nice reaction time too... did he learn to wait for the green to be fully lit by talking to all those experienced racers he knows?

By Tim's logic, I should be able to step in the ring with Matt Hughs or Tito Ortiz and kick some serious ass, because I've been watching it for years.

Although not related to the wreck, here is the video of the finals from the event Ben ran in the same night. Ben lost in the semi's to the car in the far lane (small block with 2 stages of nitrous). Ben ran a faster ET, but lost it at the tree with a sub par reaction and couldn't make up the difference.
