Interesting way to mini tub. You know Wolfe offers the mini tub kits that allow you to completely remove the stock wheel well?

I hear you about cutting your roll bar out. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should add onto my mild steel cage, or cut it out and put in a moly one at some point.

BTW, the new wheels look awesome!

i know wolfe and team z as well as others have minitub kits... but i can fit just as big of tire under the car this way...saves money and once its all seam sealed in and painted it will look stock,,well more stock than the other tubs

dont know if i should just go for the 25.5 cert

Saleen91
06-03-2007, 02:38 PM
If you have all of the bars in place go for it! I wish mine was 25.5!

Fryguy
06-03-2007, 05:32 PM
Definitely do 25.5 while you're doing it, or at least build it in such a way that you can finish 25.5 later.

At these power levels with these tires and wheelbase, there's no such thing as being too safe. Don't forget that the times we run today with these small tire stock suspension cars was unheard of not too long ago.

Looks great and good thinking on only having a couple of easy to get to bars to complete the 25.5 cert. I can't wait to see it finished and when it is you should make a trip down here so we can all see it up close.

There is a FFW in Ennis Sept 7-9 and then after that it is next May most likely. We do have another series down here that several of us run called The Clash of the Titans. they have a Race at HRP in november.

jack of all trades master of none...haha
i try...i have done about 12 ,10 points this year and a few 8 points.... so many sets of subframes that i lost count.....and even started smothing an engine bay

not to bad since i work on rail cars(train cars..not drag) 50 hours a week i just work on cars for fun(and money to build my car)
wont be long i will have to add more floor space to the garage and get a tig to start doing molly cages

Otis!
07-22-2007, 08:58 PM
I hear you! I've been a piddler for years, and there's nothing I won't try thrice, LOL!

I bought a TIG a couple of years ago, but only have about four hours of seat time on it...

What do you use to bend your tubes? Any tricks or tips for getting the layout right? I have a JD^2 model 3, and it seems to work pretty good (once mounted properly, LOL!). I need to get one of those tube joint template tools from Scummit at some point...

Out of curiousity, what do you do on the rail cars? I've always had a fascination there...

Take care!

O!

jeremy mifflin

Jeremy, what is the requirement for welding the tube completely around? Such are near the roof? Also, if you sand on the excess weld does it negate legality? Your work looks great btw!

jeremy mifflin
08-02-2007, 08:14 PM
you can not grind any weld.....
i weld mine 100%
all you do is cut a round hole for the main hoop and the front down bars to fit through
have the car on jack stands and drop the cage through to weld the tops of everything ...paint the top...pull it back up in the car slide the 6x6 floor plates in place and weld them ......i stich weld the hole from the bottom to the plate then seam seal it

hope that helps you
