No way in heck I'll win it, but I can dream at least, LOL! This is the only car that gets me going like the '64 Fairlanes...

Good luck, O!

That shore will look purdy one day if you get it.

I bet it goes for $12500-$15000, but I could be wrong...

I'm the high bidder at $7600! Woohoo!

/notYou big, meanie tricker, you!

Better luck next time.

p.s. This is another example of how evilbay has driven up the cost of just about everything that can be auctioned. B4 ebay, I'd be surprised if that car would've been sold for 1/2 that.

Thank goodness Budweiser doesn't sell their beer through ebay. :litebeer:

After waking up this morning, I had a vision:

Black exterior, red leather interior, stroked SBF (~347-ish), T56, narrowed 9", big discs all around, 165's/295's on kidney beans...

Yea, that ought to do it...

Evidently the chicks (and horses) dig 'em.

The next to the highest bidder retracted, leaving me high bidder at $6500; we shall see what happens...

Found some sites, and according to one:

Currently, according to our records, less than 3000 of these vehicles still exist in North America (in any form or condition!)

Trying to psyche myself up for a roadtrip to Wisconsin, LOL!

Doing some research, I found:
http://www.angliaobsolete.com/frame191528.html < neat site!

Wow, less than 3000? There are at least 2 here on this rock that I know of. Both were race cars.

It looks like it's in pretty darned good shape!

'Never knew there was an Escort back then.

Now that I think about it, Ford hasn't come up with anything original in a while.

Also, "I could see you driving that." ;)
(type those words and, like majic, you're making a 17 hour drive and buying it. Ha!)

Actually, I set my esnipe bids at 6 seconds to automatically bid, and have about a 90+ % win rate, thank you very much!!

And congrats O!. You will have a nice little , and I mean little, place to sleep now!

Some guy named caneighbors won it. I think he's in shock. Or Jessica found out about it. (I saw her lurking on this thread earlier!)

Actually, Jessica did find out, and called me at work to congratulate me! Now I'm in shock, LOL!

I've wanted one of these jewels for about twenty-five years now, and passed on a couple of 'cheap' ones in my early days. Missed one a few years back that went for about $6k, and kind of regret it.

I haved mixed emotions right now; I'm as tickled as a kid in a candy store, but at the same time realize what it'll take to complete. That, and I don't have a 'real' clear vision of what I want the car to do and be. Color-wise I have it nailed, but motivation I'm cornfused...Fuel-injected 347, or nasty, solid-roller 351-based stroker?

Hmmmm, tomorrow I'll pinch myself!

Thanks all, and I hope to be making the trip in a couple of weeks to go get her!

O!

598 big block stroker 11:1 about a .700 lift cam ~260-270 .050 duration. Should idle about 800 in gear.

You could catch Ben on pump gas if you had the cojones and could keep it straight.

ROFLOL! That's what I'm afraid of Ken! I don't know if I could hang in it!

Brent: seriously serious? I may have to take you up on that!

Nay,

This will mean you'll have to do some work on your OWN car instead of somebody elses for a change!

I'm game for a road trip as well. Keep me posted if you need another co-pilot.

Troy: Thanks! I'm trying to figure all of this stuff out now, and of course don't have anything sorted out, LOL! I don't want to make a whirlwind out of it, but would like to take four or five days to get up there and back.

Does that timeframe work for either you or Brent, or both?

I'm starting to get pumped!

I'm telling you nay
598*~1.4 hp/cid = 840 ish

Loose 50 through the trans so we are around 800 at the wheels.

Say that Anglia weighs 2400# with you in it. The dream wheel says 8.40@162. You maynot catch Ben, but you'll jump out in front of that turbo car and be all over the track. Ben would probably lift cause you'd be blocking him like NASCAR. I do believe you'll need some Caltracs on those buggy springs - not to mention a proctologist to remove the seat vinyl after a run. You might PP - Permanent Pucker.

I can verify that proctologist issue on your first 8 second pass

maveRick
04-12-2007, 10:05 PM
Surely this is going to be a street/show car, right?

I can see it in beautiful black, with a narrowed rear end, huge "Pro Street" tires, EFI small block (compression friendly), even A/C for crusing during Summer.

Come to think of it, as light as that car is going to be, you probably could do 8's with the A/C on! ;)

Where did you move to?You'll have to wait until Mrs. 89LX306 says, "If you want food now, well then grab your laptop, jump in your truck and drive your happy a** into town and buy yourself a god**m hamburger!", again to find out that info.

(Man, if I only had a nickel for every time I've heard that.)

LOL! Rick. Guess where I'm at? :D

Ben, we are now in Richmond (at least it has a Richmond mailing address). On the south side of 59 off of FM 762. Located between George Ranch and Brazos Bend State Park. We really like it out here. I got to break in my new riding mower last Saturday and spent the rest of the week weed eating. Now when we "go to town"...we make a list.
