Finally got a chance to install one the other day, and it seems like a good idea to me. You can get these from a number of sources, with a going rate about $50 on average. The intent is to reinforce the rear case while providing much more resistance to the thrust load created by the input and cluster gears...
Stay tuned for a detailed drawing...

Just ordered 150 of these jewels, and hope to have them available in the next couple of months. Target price right now is $35 per, but may be adjusted...

Got my first articles in Tuesday, and they look pretty good. The remaining pieces should be here by the end of October.
Price will be $35 each, which includes the fasteners (not shown in picture below). Similar items retail for $50-56, depending on where you get them...

If I still had a T-5, I'd buy one! :) Hell, throw one in the AOD and let's see what happens! ;)
That's got to be considerably stronger than the stamped steel piece from BW/Tremec. It seems like most of the mass carnage I've seen in T5s come from main shaft deflection, but $35 is cheap insurance to know your cluster won't move. Unless the case distorts....in which case you've got problems larger than $35. :)
Nice work! I'll call you tomorrow regarding AOD, intake, etc. I'll be starting the long trek home at around 10:00am ET..... Wooo Hooo!! :) :) :)
