Made the deal on Saturday night at 10:00 PM with the seller who lives in Atlanta, GA. 'Left Sunday morning at 5:30 and arrived at our half-way point, Mobile, Alabama at 1:00. Ate a big o' steak, signed some papers, swapped junk from "his" newly acquired truck to "my" newly acquired Maverick. he hooked it back to Atlanta and I hooked it back to Cypress, TX where I arrived home at 11:30 last night without incident.
Whew! 17 hours of driving in one day. But, a trip like that doesn't seem as long if you know you're getting something you want.
The little engine that could (250 c.i. with 2000 miles on a rebuild) is pretty spunky. I'll keep it in there for a little while. The car is begging for a 3XX though.
One day - one day. :woot:

Sooooo whacha going to pull the race Maverick with when going to the track? The 5.9-liter Duhdingo (Durango).
I never even hauled anything on the trailer with the truck. It was more in the way than anything. I'm sure I'll need it desperately soon and often now that it's gone.

If your desperate you can always barrow mine pick up.
That looks just like a car my uncle Dave bought new many years ago.
Matter of fact I think there have been about three Warwas owned Mav's.
I can remember riding around in one of my uncle's Maverick's holding a sign in the window at traffic lights of Mickey Mouse shooting the finger with the words "Fuck Iran" written below. People laughed so I kept on doing it.
Another Warwas put one through a barbed wire fence giving it a custom pinstripe job.
That's about all of my family Maverick memories.
Wait one more, My cousin and I at 15 and 14 took my uncles v8 4dr down the Ratcliff Highway wide open down a long hill that has a creek bridge at the bottom. We lifted the gas before the bridge and that mofo backfired blowing the muffler clean off. Took us 5 minutes to find and 15 pick it up cause that mofo was red hot! We drove home and stuck it back on to let it fall off the next time my uncle drove it. Did he fix it? Nope, just coat-hangered it snug.
Now that you have two......Which one is Maverick and which is Goose?????

Cool deal Rick!
That thing has potential!
First swap in a 302, or even better a 347.
Fuel injected so it's one of those modern engines.
Then a built C4 with a floor shifter.
Put some weld stars on it with runners in the front and some slicks in the back.
once you do all that, your gonna need a roll bar.
Oh, and some of them race seats.
And what would really make it look good would be to put a cowl hood on it and paint it some bright color like red.
oh, and some nitrous
That... would be cool.
or
Just drive it and enjoy it.
Those straight sixes are spunky little engines. I had the smaller 200ci one in my first 66 mustang. Does it have the cool one barrell carb?
Here's some info on the six. Click (http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techarticles/173_0312_inline_six_cylinder_performance_guide/)

Funny story, Brian. Sounds like something I would've done at that age.
Doug, the only thing missing from your to-do list would be to paint it Calypso Coral (but paint the hood flat black of course ;) ).
Great article on the 6's. Thanks. Bookmarked.

Hey Rickles,
I saw you cruising down Telge in the Maverick yesterday. Just in front of the Fire Station over by Hacienda. I stuck my arm out the window of a white Expedition and then my wife looked at me like I'm crazy.

'Sorry I missed ya. Stop me next time (if it's unanimously agreeable with everyone in your vehicle;)). I'll keep an eye out for ya.
I was probably on my way back from Harbor Freight .... where I realized I didn't have my wallet with me and subsequently noticed my gas gauge was BELOW "E". I eased the little 250 home, conserving as much fuel as possible. I'm sure I agitated a few drivers coming up from behind - but I made it home and then to a gas station. Whew!
Now I know I can go 2 needle widths below E and still be OK.....for at least that long.
