Ok I have bought a car with a complete never started 408. I plan on pulling the motor and yanking the w/sr heads off it and sell them and when the time comes to yank out my 306 i'll throw my holley heads on the 408.

How can I store this motor until at least this time next year and keep it in the same condition. I owuld hate to hold onto this motor and have it go to hell while sitting.

TIA
Mike

If you are yanking the heads of the motor, then just clean all of the water out of the cylinders and then spray the entire motor with something like WD40 to prevent rust on the machined surfaces. Then put the motor in a larged sealed bag and store it. I'd still pull it out every couple of months and turn the motor over by hand and recoat the surfaces with oil just to be safe.

I was thinking it was going to have to be in a controled climate but if thats not the case good, I won't have to piss off the wife by keeping it in our master closet

I just don't want to let the short block go. No telling when I'll use it but it will be used after this 306 is tired out.

Why are you removing the Windsors to replace with Holley Heads? New style or old style (aka Brodix) Holley heads?

The heads will be up for sale as soon as I get the motor out. They are from Mike Murillo's shop, have been p&p's. I will be selling them with the ford svo 1.6 rr's also.

I have the newer style Holley heads on my 306 that have also been p&p'd by Murillo's shop. Not so sure i want to get rid of a set of heads I have as much cash into as these. They have titanium valves and all, they were built to be able to turn 8k plus if I ever went to a stroker motor. All I'll have to get is a cam and intake to match my Upper but for a 351.
