Found some stuff while hunting for a good source for t-5 hard parts...

http://www.5speeds.com/t5.htm

Interesting little piece, although it seems to be aimed at folks who like to go fast as hell in 5th gear...not us drag racers. Price is $59.95. One thing I found interesting was how they check for cluster "endplay." Rather than using the traditional .000"-.002" endplay spec they actually add some preload on the cluster ...They say 2 in/lbs there, but if you read the RC assembly page below, they shoot for 4 in/lbs.

Neat T-5 identification chart and tag identifier.

Top part of the page is a neat race-only T-5, but the bottom describes a new close-ratio gearset (2.45 first gear). The neat part about the RC gearset is the modular cluster gear. This would allow you to replace ONLY the part of the cluster that you blew up rather than the whole damn thing.... Pretty good idea..

And, last but not least, a ordering page with some decent prices on hard parts...

Chris...you ever seen this site before? I wonder if the parts are of decent quality? Hanlon's price on a new 2nd gear is $110, but this place has em for $65..

Darrell,

I just found this tonight... Latemodel Restoration Supply has T5 Steel Bearing Retainers for $29.95. Their website is www.50resto.com . That seems to be about the best deal I've seen on them.

Chris....

An addition for the tech article:

National/Federal Mogul 5202 crosses to a Napa 14982 ... and best of all...it's about $10 vs $18 for the National

Both part numbers include the extension bushing and seal...

Cool D! I wish we had a Napa close! The closest one is 15 miles away; one of the last 'true' automtive parts chains (the rest are dolts, IMHO!).

Thanks!

I know it Chris...I wish we had more NAPAs in this world. Even O'Reilly's by me is sliding (and they used to be damn impressive!). Went in looking for a drain plug gasket the other day.

Dolt: "1995 Mustang GT....standard or automatic transmission?"
Me: "Standard"
Dolt: "We're out of those"
Me: "Do you have one for the automatic?"
Dolt: "Lemee check.....nope"
Me: "You don't have an assortment I can just look through and pick one out?"
Dolt: "Nope"
Me: "OK"

I cruise down the oil isle..nothing

Next isle...a whole section of drain plugs and...you guessed it! Drain Plug gaskets!

30 minutes later I was on my way. I guess the good thing is that my oil pan had a good 30 min to fully drain.....LOL
