I have just purchased my very first NOS kit for my LT1. I got the full NOS setup made specificly? for my Car for $200.00 NEW. Talk about a POMOFO deal. Now I need advice from all you NOS veterans. What should I do to the car before installing the kit? New rings, gaskets? Also any tips to keep me from killing myself or my motor, I would appreciate. So whats up JuicedLX, ready for an install day?

A good friend of mine just bought a used Z28 like mine from a guy and it came with all kinds of new parts the kid never got around to putting on(flowmaster muffler, NOS kit, gauges, rear gears). He's going with turbo so he let me have the NOS for next to nothing. :D

Damn, I hope it wasn't stolen....LOL I am ready for a install weekend. Goin' try to pull my motor this weekend so come on over & we'll do both. I would recommend a new set of head gaskets before tryin' to juice. Let me know what you want to do. Later....

just remember you tellin' me the car has over 100k miles on it..........DON"T spray it 'til you change the head gaskets & only use a small shot...

You dont need to change head gaskets on a car before using n2o. If the car is running fine now, n2o isn't going to automatically blow HG's.
Just make sure you dont overstep your bounds. Run the kit how it's intended, make sure your fuel pump and injectors are up to par, get new plugs and lower their gap, and turn the timing back a little bit.
I ran n2o on my 87 that had over 200k miles on the original motor and did fine. I finally blew the hg's, but it wasn't due to the n2o. I had installed a timing retard box that was FAULTY, resulting in false readings when I was setting the timing. When the pointer read 10 deg, I was actually running like 30.
Knock on wood, I've never blown a gasket, had a backfire, or burnt a plug by using n2o. If you use it safely, and make sure your car is up to par for the shot you intend to use, you should be fine.

Hey Fred, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Mike is automatically going to blow head gaskets w/ the juice. It's just that after driving the car & hearing assorted noises from the engine (injectors, lifters...) I'm afraid he will hurt the car in its current condition. It had a hard life before he bought it. Just suggesting he go over the engine & make sure it is up to par before sprayin it. Your right about N2O not being a bad thing, I've used it for years & love the results. I would just hate to see him destory the motor in his new toy.
