I dunno what the deal is lately with my car. BTW the motor and turbos are fine! its everything else. Rewind to about 3 weeks back. My speedo cable has been broken in the car for a long while (even before the new motor). I obtain a used cable and install it. So I take it for a test spin. Speedo works like a charm. I'm like :) so I decide to cruise around for a while and all of a sudden my car looses ALL electrical power. Now Im like:mad: . I try to wiggle the cables but nothing. Tried to jump it with the tow truck, nothing. So I had to get it towed home. I knew the battery and cables were in bad shape so I figured I would get some new ones as I had a good feeling that it was the problem. Since I have always thought those Dyna-Batts were cool I figured I would get one of those. TWO WEEKS later it shows up on my doorstep. Which brings me to this week. Come up with a way to mount the dyna batt and install the new cables. Turn the key, and she comes to life like shes a new car. once again I am like:) . So again, time for a spin! start pulling out of the garage and I hear this "tick tick tick" that is proportional to the car speed (not engine speed). Look at the speedo and it reads 0. Once again:mad: . So I dig in to the dash hoping I just didnt get the cable on the speedometer, but no dice . The ticking noise is right were the cable attaches to the speedometer.
So....does anyone have a speedo cable? :(

You need to try feeding it Camaros or something more filling than a speedo cable. That car is just waiting to pounce on a big meal.:burnout:

Trevor,
I had a similar problem with mine, thinking the burning on the header caused the problem. Turns out there is a weight/slinger like thing inside the speedo head that had somehow got 'tweaked', allowing it to rub on other parts, and causign noise and erratic/jumping speed. I carefully 'tweaked' it back, checked the full range for binding, and put it back togther; all is fine now!
So, I was like:  ; :( ; :hmm: ; :D
That was my thought... wondering if it was in the actual speedo itself....

Chris are you talking about on the speedo cable or on the cluster? My cluster is fine. When I drive around with the cluster off, the small square plastic "cable" thingy that plugs into the cluster does not turn, and the noise is unchanged....same "tick tick tick" I put my hand on the speedo cable while rolling and it seem like its coming from directly where it hooks up to the cluster though it could just be the vibration/noise propagating up the cable. Ill have a look at it tonight. I dont want to have take that thing out again! Its a pain! The darn upper intake is in the way:mad:

Damn:mad:
I think this time I might unbolt the upper and lean it out of the way, when doing the cable. That way I dont have to contort the cable to get it through the fire wall. That might be why this one had a short life. Guess I will get a new one this time.

Well it turns out it WAS touching the header. So that explains that! Thanks Fred for refering me to Robert B (not sure it hes on this site). I am not 100% sure if it will work but will give it a shot!
