I'm not shocked, I just wish it wasn't 88 miles from my door step! Evadale is closer and I bet Pine Valley Raceway up in Lufkin is not all that much further.
I will run out there again though, I enjoyed Lonestar and look forward to going out there again.

Yeh I like pine valley. When I went to school IN nacogdoches I went there all the time. Its only like 10 or less to race. But yeh I'm exicted about the new track. Of course I can not remember if it is father or closer than HRP.

I have lots of family in Nac, and lived there for several years. I graduated from SFA in 94 and the closest racetrack we had back then was Hallesville.

The new owner says he plans to put in a road coarse later on which could be the reason for the big turn around. Probably be incorporated. Along with those, he claims to want to put in a "drift" track, motorcross track, tractor pull area, etc. I don't car so long as the drag track is still nice.

Our old track was a "multi-purpose" track that incorporated the drag strip into a road course. Road events got so popular here that the different venues were all fighting for dates around the drag schedule. Luckily the drag strip remained the #1 money maker and got priority scheduling :)
I personally think drifting is Uberghey as a "sport" (but who doesn't like power sliding for shits n giggles!)... but if it brings money to the track for renovations then it's all G.

Agree 100%. What kind of dumbass sport is drifting? It won't be long before someone wises up and realizes they can "win" races by NOT drifting, thus saving tires and going faster. I hope this "drifting" craze dies a horrible death!

Drifting events include points for "style", not just who can get A-B 1st. IIRC, figureskating has points for "style" too... uberghey.
