Those look to be in pretty bad shape. Unless you just can't bare to spend the money, I'd replace at least the front portion of the pan (if you can do that). I'd think with it being a Nova you could get some knock off (not Year One OEM replacements) for pretty cheap. I think JC Whitney sells floor pans :D.

The best bet is welding in new panels. However, POR makes a two-part putty (http://www.porstore.com/faqputty.html) filler stuff that works good...
Cover that with some POR-15 (http://www.porstore.com/por15info.htm), and you're good to go!
But I agrree with Rusty (aptly named here, LOL!); replace at least the big spot w/a new patch...

these pics are actually of my falcon (shawns got the nova). i dont know if that makes any difference. any ideas where i can get some pans from? would it be easier to make something (or get it done at a body shop)? i have a little money saved up, but, of course, id like to do it as cheaply as possible. at the same time, though, i dont want to do a botch job. sence the falcon is based on the mustang frame, will stang pans work? im sure they shouldnt be _too_ hard to come by. any places to call?

Don't know what year yours is. If its 66 and up I *think* is share the same chassis as a Fairlane

i came across that site earlier tonight. ill have to see if i can find out more about what pans will fit. i was able to find pans for my car (a 69), but they were from australia, and im not sure if they will work (auzzies have right hand drive cars), and im sure the shipping would kick my ass.

James: I've never used the putty, but hear it's pretty good. If you can't find panels, you might be able to make a small patch easy enough out of some 18ga sheetmetal. If you can get me some measurements, I'll see what I have...
Rusty: You better watch out! James is the bigger one of the two also, LOL!

LOL! A wee bit of 'geek' humor there; I actually got it, LOL!
Use it, used it, want to, don't want to...
Damn! That's a big piece! We'll have to carve that fro the Sublet! I think I have some 'virgin' sheetmetal here to cover that; let me find it...
Gramps...
