View Full Version : Oh yes baby, let the "a bitch with a coupe" project commence.

As you all know, I've had a multi-colored coupe sitting in my driveway for QUITE sometime now (don't jizz all over the monitor at the mention of it, Darrell!)! Whether it was time or lack of luck, we haven't been able to get the project up and going! All that's changed now... I've slowly accumilated all the parts needed to get this puppy goin' and some extra perks to really get it going (hopefully!). This was to be the first 'pomofo' project car when it was purchased over a year ago, I don't know if it still qualifies, as I got starry eyed and purchased some extra go fast goodies! :)

Fred and I stripped the whole thing after we put the rear end to-gether and installed it, so that's out of the way. We still can't figure out why it sits like a 4x4! LOL! Time will tell hopefully. At the moment, it's sitting on Lakewood 50/50s and 4 cyl springs (same ones that came WITH the car), the suspension COULD be in a bind, we won't know until we drive it... this, thus far has been our first hump! Any ideas are welcomed. :)

So now, what's next? The roll bar... Fred and I will be working on that for the next couple of weeks. With any luck it will be *to* the paint shop with in the next four weeks. :)

More to come, I'm sure! Plenty of pictures 'n stuff.

Congrats on the progression!!!!!

Mine was wothout a powertrain for months and it stodd up high and mighty from what ended up being a lack of weight. The 4cyl springs will compress easier than 5.0 ones.

Can't wait to see more pics....

It still has the 4CYL drivetrain intact. Fred feels it's in a bind, so we'll see when we get it on the road.

Its good to see that one of us is making progress! My coupe should have the wires hidden in the egine bay, the front clip back on the car and the roll bar, subframes and torque boxes welded up by the end of the month if everything goes as planned. I don't want to pull any perforamce stuff off the convertible for it untill I get that 11 second timeslip...

Stay tuned!

Congrats!

I finally made some progress on project TTT as well. The Pro-Stars are now on the front. I convinced my wife to swap me brakes off of her 01 GT, so all the parts cost me nothing (well unless you count purchase price of the car, LOL!). After I got the new short belt for the reversed tensioner on I took her out for a spin. Ahhhhhhh! The feeling of roasting the tires all the way through third. Haven't felt that in a while.

/me is still on cloud nine after getting behind the wheel of TTT for the first time in 3 months.

After I break in the new motor, that'd be fun.

/me calls out Nancy to share her rookie experience down the track :D

I've been down the track twice - but in a car that was not my own. It was a '92 AOD - which is probably why I was able to be coerced into running that night. My fear of missing every gear down the track didn't matter since it was an AOD..

I don't know what my problem is - and why I can race on the street - but I come down with a severe case of "stage fright" at the track.

Cris: Name the date/time and I will be there with my fellow sistah!:D

Yeah, I myself am pretty introverted and the whole crowd and people thing makes me nervous. Streetracing was easy because it happened in the 'backstreets' of my old neighborhood. Nothin' but us young punks around. :)

Not taking my car to the track after it's done would be kind of a waste, especially since it will be a guinea pig, tracking progress after each change, etc...

After it's done, I'll probably drive it around for 500 miles w/o going WOT, to break it in, then, I will for sure give you a date and time! :D

Now? Right now? On the street I sure will. That's not a problem... I am just weird when it comes to running at HRP.

I told Cristina I'd run with her at the track... guess you are gonna have to wait to see it 'til then.

I just can't perform for a crowd - I am a retard like that.

I've only been racing at the track for a couple of years and I was nervous as hell the first time but that eventually wore off. There isn't anything like being laghed at when you stall your car twice when trying to do a burn out! After going to the track a couple of times the nervousness wore off and I really started to concentrate on what I was doing, now I hardly even notice the crowd at all. Just my viewpoint...and your talking to someone who went from a 14.7 to a 12.4 in two years.

Two Tone Terror.

Best I could think of for a car that looks like a heap of scrap running down the track. It could soon be a three tone terror. Paint will find it's way into the budget someday. For now go-fast goodies somehow tend to make their way to the front of the line.

Good choice on paint.
