Ever since I've had my 91 running (December 2000), I've had a surging idle. While it wasn't always real bad, it was there. Since Ennis of 2k1, the surge got worse, requiring me to up the idle in my chip to 1200-1300 rpm to get it high enough to not die on me when the surge hit the "low end". Bottom line, it sucked having the car surge anytime it was at idle.
Last week, I tried tweaking with my chip somemore, and even had Chris Johnson at Johnson Motorsports taking a look at my file and making small changes here and there to try to remedy the problem.
This didn't fix it, and I was pretty much at the end of my rope; I was fed up. Ben told me to come on over to his place this weekend, and between the two of us, we'd get it solved... While I didn't expect it to get solved, b/c I'd had the help of some of the best chip tuners out there already, I figured "what the hell, the worst that could happen is I leave with the surge still, nothing new."
Well, by putting our heads together, we searched for and solved the problem! The car has no more surge, has great a/f ratio numbers, and drives and idles like a champ at 900rpm now!
I see Ben's new business venture ( www.v8mustang.com ) becoming very successful, not only due to his attitude, but b/c of his service and prices.
Thanks again Ben for helping me out and helping me realize all was not lost and I wasn't gonna have to live with that idle as long as I owned the car. You da man.
Regards,
