As some of you know I've been making some upgrades on my combo. I sold the C4 and have replaced it what a Powerglide. I took out the hydraulic roller and replaced it with a solid roller, and I'm going from a small frame 76mm to a large frame 88mm.
While upgrading the trans I decided to install a mid plate. Actually Alex Ekrot talked me into it, and I'm glad I did. It wasn't too bad to install either.

Unfortunately I ordered a 164T mid plate when I have a 157T bell. So I cut the starter piece off of the mid plate instead of wasting time sending it back and getting the right one. I'll just space the starter out with a washer like I've been doing. You can also see there's about a 1" gap between the stock glide tranny mount and the stock Ford cross member. So I'll have to shim that as well. I'll just stack some washers and them mig them together. Thanks to Alex for donating the tranny shield. :D

Sweet!
What the main value of the mid plate Ben? stability, ease of dismount?
Matt (Bubba Bro) got married Saturday and I'll be tending to his shop a few days next week while he honeymoons. Free access to a lift - geez. Trying to decide what to work on, had nothing planned.

Matt got married??!!! Wow!!
As for the mid-plate...rigidity. I could see the motor torque over some even with the solid motor mounts. So this is just to help prevent that.

Ben,
Do you have a close up of your alternator mounting? How did you mount the bottom adjuster?
It looks like the Aerospace water pump didn't work out.
Checks in the mail.

Well I did have the Aerospace pump but TxBandit made a comment on how he'd like to get a black and polished water pump and get rid of his blue annodized pump. So I offered a trade and he took me up on it. :)
The bottom adjuster on the alternator is a turnbuckle. It's a kit from Moroso, about $100 from Summit. It allows you to mount the alternator on either side, high or low.
