Sealy Friday Night 08/09

So far: Ken (FE REX), Bubba (Bubstang), me, and my neighbor with the Chevelle are going to Sealy tonight.

As mentioned in other post, some high dollar racing supposed to take place also.

Bubba update:

Last I heard from him, he was taking a short-cut to avoid all the traffic on I-10. He was just outside of Dallas, I believe.


Hillie, put out an APB on Bubba would ya? He drives a suped-up mini-van and has a nice Mustang Vert pushing him.

I don't think Troy and the others are gonna make Sealy Rick. Last I talked to them, I think they were gonna head out to Navasota Sat night for some big event. I may head out there as well (just to spectate ofcoarse :D ).

‘Pulled up to the gate tonight and saw FE_REX's mobile home, er…car hauler, parked near the fuel tanks (two carbs isn’t conducive to obtaining good gas mileage). Chatted for a few minutes then head to the “Bubba Bunch”.

Bubba was hosting some friendly friends from Canada (“aboot 5 miles ootside of Alberta, I believe, ay?”). Nice folk.

Ken makes a run. Not real pleased.

Hell, even I make a run. I don’t care.

Ken’s running fat.

Bubba’s running lean.

I’m running ‘juuuust right’ (like I would care what the T’Bird does. I’m just trying to learn something every time I go out and keep up what little racing skills I have until the Maverick is ready.)

It was Street Stock night, so I figured ‘what-the-hey’, I’ll run the Stealth in Street Stock. My R/T’s were horrible during TT’s but I managed to turn .506, .53?, and 56? and a .54 in the eliminations. The tires spun like they were in gorilla snot on the last (losing) pass, but, “whoopie!” I got 3rd place! No, there isn’t a trophy for 3rd place. “I’m just glad to be nominated” quote goes here.

Ken is really still testing and tuning while running Street Stock. ‘Probably coulda used just one more time trial/test & tune. You’ll get 'em next time, Ken! Maybe one more carb will do the trick! ;)

Meanwhile, back at the pits, after a couple of improved runs, Bubba’s having a photo session of his car done by a relatively well-known ‘Don King’ of Street Racers.

I’ll let him give the details. I don’t wanna burst the “hubba-bubba-Bubba-bubble”. And what a bubble it is!:D

Bubba seems to be drawn to docking about 3/4 track - right next to the fence - and where the low 5 second cars launch over the railing. Bubba's such a rebel (or maybe he just hasn't witnessed one of those cars getting air-born after they hit the rail).

Please do, Kevin. Next Friday night would be a good one to go to. They're having the "Big Dog Shoot-Out" event (4.9's second cars). Some sirus money/time gone into these things.
