LOL!

I have a laptop I've been using for the last 3 weeks while I'm on the road and want to transfer all the music, programs, etc off of this thing. It doesn't have a burner on it, so I can't just burn it to CD and be all set.

What are my other options? Most of the stuff I need to transfer off this thing are bigger than 1.44M, so a floppy isn't going to get the job done either.

Can I connect the two together with a DB9 serial cable? USB cable? A rope? LOL

Any ideas?

Easiest way would be to find a friend with an external/portable CD Burner. I have one that I use here at work called a Backpack made by Microsolutions. It connects to the computer via parallel port and you just load the software for it and burn away.

You could also use a parallel cable, or a crossover network cable. Of course the parallel cable will require some type of software (like LapLink) and the xover network cable will require you to set up the TCP/IP info.

I have all the equipment at my place to move almost whatever amount of data you want. I'm a network admin. :D

Shoot me a PM if you still need help with it.

Welp! I got it done with some looking around and some help from Rusty and Cristina! (Thanks BTW!)

And best of all? I did it in true PoMoFo fashion! I have a DB9 serial cable with null modem adapter that I use to connect to a particular x-ray system's service programs. Using the following program...I just hooked that cable up between the laptop and the desktop and started transferring.... :)

The only downside is that I started about midnight LAST night...haha! Serial data flow isn't fast, but dammit...it was free...LOL

Thanks to everyone!
