View Full Version : What are your carplans for 2006

I'll probably have everything done by February.
Need new calipers and pads that I plan to install with the my new stainless caliper bushings, plan to reuse the stock rotors to keep the cost and weight down.
Out back are going some 3.55 gears and a Moser 33 spline spool.
Then slide in a .066 Nitrous jet and see how long the stock crank stay in the block running low 10's :racing:
Maybe in April sign up for the FFW Drag Radial class just for the fun of it :bubbrubb:

Finish the car and have it ready and running sometime in April before our second child arrives. Lots of stuff left to do, and I'm still aquiring parts but I'm on schedule.
Should be able to run in Cheap Street at COTT and with the 5.75 FSTA class next year.

The car is going to take a little down time this next year. Might make few events here and there like FFW in Baytown. Other then that, I will usually be a spectator.

No real plans. Gotta get a new Snell 2000 helmet this year since the M90 rating is no longer good. Will try to upgrade to a 3" exhaust sometime this year (may just run open headers until I can afford an h-pipe and mufflers LOL). I'm debating dropping down to 3.55 gears, but then again most of my racing will be 1/8 mile except for FFW. Maybe find some more places to pull weight. Maybe change the front springs and get some good lower control arms and an anti-roll bar. maybe... maybe...

Well I deploy in March. I will be down in January pulling the motor and dropping the heads off for some Major port work. Here's what I plan
***Reused Parts
Dart Block .030 over
Scat Crank 3.25 Stroke Internnally Balanced***
Probe Lightweight Rods
Probe Custom Pistons 13.5:1***
Ported TW Heads with 2.05 valves (upgrading my current heads)
Jesel Shaft Rockers
Crower Lifters
Super Victor Intake***
Pro System 860cfm carb
Custom Grind Cam from Ed Curtis
KOOKS 1 7/8 headers and 3 inch exhuast***
Dynamic M2 with PTC 8 inch convertor and 6000 stall.
Old setup made 540hp@7600rpms. The new setup will be spinning to 8500 and hope to have it up in the 650hp range. Goal is the single digit ETs. I will be back in October to put it back in and make some test runs.

Make at least one pass. [/broken record]
Swap out existing B'housing for SFI. Fix the starter/flexplate issue at same time. Install new carpet and 5-pt Safety Harness. Change to front disc brakes. Mate the Maverick and Mustang glass hoods together (that should be an adventure). Actually pull the gears in the rear to take a look-see. Hook up Nitrous, Nut-and bolt.
I might even look into making the Maverick streetable :D (new wheels/tires, fix wiring, etc).

If all goes well....new paint and a redo the rearend. Cuz Im still rolling strong with the stock 8.8 guts @ 170Kish minus the gears. Also thinking of callin up Jay Allen or FTI for a new cam. I'd like for her to run mid 11's N/A and id be happy as shit...we shall see
Best case senario: I magically run into a shead load of money and get something else to drive everyday cuz the stang needs to come off the streets.

-Fix T45
-Install Wolfe roll bar
-buy a worn out 40r7w auto and beef it up slowly over the next year
(Auto tranny parts are $$$$$ !!!!!)
-dump some weight
Feb-
-Elec water pump
-Ported intake
-PHP intake spacer
-dump some weight
March-

The juice will go on as soon as I can consistently hit 11s NA. Then I will have to step up to 28" meats...
My goal is to be under 3000 lbs w/ driver. Right now its exactly 3200 w/ me (I'm 205), but the bar will add 100lbs or so, so I need to figure out where I can lose some more

Plans
Buttugly - gat running and find track to race brackets - maybe install one piece fiberglass front
Showasaur - fix A/C water leak in car (not an easy task). Get all interior plastic rechromed
Notimeasaur - find better body or replacement 1/4's, find A460 block, build 545, basically finish the car. Install EEC-IV on motor
Sleeperasaur - no plans this year if I can find part for NoTimeaSaur
What will happen
Get ButtUgly running

Get the damn thing running - time permitting...LOL!
Plan on doing a 9"-ended 8.8" housing, ARB, LCAs. etc
Also would like to get a C4 conversion and roll bar install done as well. But, considering the pace I'm moving at currently, that may not happen in 2006... :)

I'm planning on keeping the Cobra. If that happens, it will no longer be my daily driver, which means I can come up with more plans to do something to it!
At minimum I will be replacing shocks/struts, rear suspension, and other general maintenance that I should have done long ago. If I keep it, I will at least rebuild the engine with some minor performance improvements. Ultimate goals would be to put a stroker in there, but unless I can find the parts super cheap, I probably won't.

T-5 removal underway :woot: ...C-4 getting ready to be freshened up for the season...31 spline rearend with 9"ends and disk brakes underway thanks to Big "O"...on a side note, the car will be sporting 03 cobra front brakes and 13" rotors when it hits the road again...It should not be a problem stopping it when I'm done.. Anyone know if a 10"wide Weld with 6.5" of backspacing and a 275/50//15 mickey thompson drag radial will fit in the rear on a lowered car? I'm thinking of going drag radial racing this year :D ...Whats the progress on everyone elses rides...I've seen Carl's, so I better get busy on the bling bling...Looks awsome Carl..Can't wait till the season starts..

Awesome Mike!
The 10" Weld and tire should fit but you might need a 1/4" spacer.
I've run a 275/40/17 on a 17x9 before with no problem. Lowered and with tailpipes.
My current setup is a 15x9 6.5"b.s. with a 28" tire. I am running a 1/4" spacer because the tire balloons out with the MT Drags.
Biggest problem I see with the Welds is your going to run the 13" Cobra brakes.
It's going to take a HUGE spacer and a bunch of grinding to the caliper to get a ProStar or Draglite on there. It can be done, just not to purdy.
Time for some custom Bogarts. They make runners that have the offset to fit.

Cool deal mike. Fred has the exact same tire setup on his gt, so just talk to him about it. As far as the fronts go, 3" front studs, and a minimum of 7/8" spacer on the front and your good to go with the pro stars (bogart welds a 1" spacer on their wheels to clear the brakes, the centerline convo pro's I have read require a bit less work.)
My plans arent making it anywhere so far..... so 2010 looks better for due dates for me.

Although I'm still only 4 lug, I just put on a set of 15x10 draglites and a 28x10.5 slick. I have a 1/4 spacer on the car now but I think with some creative hammering I can make it work without the spacer. I know a ton of people run this setup but the tire really does balloon on the rim and I think it would look much better with a 9" rim. Fred runs the 275x60 drag radial on a 15x10 and it looks great, the 28x10.5 slick is a big tire, it just looks funny on the 10" wide rim.
My car is still in pieces and I'm still acquiring parts. It will probably be running mid year.

Kinda off topic, but there are some significant advantages of using the 10" wide wheel with a 28x10.5 tire. IMO, if you used anything other than a 10" wheel you'd be shooting yourself in the foot.

I know that there are advantages of the 10 inch rim with the 28x10.5 tire, it just looks bad, and would look better on a 9" rim. But, looks don't win races.

Thanks for the answers guys. Can't wait to get back to the track this year. :racing: When the rear is done it will be 5/8" wider than a stock rearend. This should take care of the spacer issue for the rear.

Brent take a look at most of the faster true 10.5 class cars. Most all run a 15x12 rim. The claims are you get a flatter footprint which means a little more traction.
I still run a 15x10 on mine.

I'm doing a myriad of changes on 2 vehicles at the same time (needles to say, neither runs at this point, lol )
The 95TT needed some changes (cosmetic and effieciency/strength) The cosmetics are my inner fenderwells and turbo piping. Going to "box" box in the area around the turbos. The turbos were sitting a bit "cocked" I guess you could say. The compressors were gathering oil in them past the seal So I redid the piping (level in hand) to the turbos to level them off.
http://home.earthlink.net/~te_n_me/images/95%20related/95exhaustlevel.jpg
In that pic, I've finished the pass side. If you look at the drivers side, you can see how it's angled downward (which is what was causing the oil to leak into the compressor a bit )
Also installed a front mount intercooler
http://home.earthlink.net/~te_n_me/images/95%20related/95coolermount.jpg
Got a Tremec, a roll cage and some 18" Bullits for itas well.
The Coupe is getting a a pretty major overhaulin' Been running the JY turbo coupe set-up pretty much like it came from ford.
Put on a stainless tubular header with a worked (heavily) K27
http://home.earthlink.net/~te_n_me/images/2.3T/23header.jpg
Added a front mount onto it as well
http://home.earthlink.net/~te_n_me/images/2.3T/coupeccolermount.jpg
Polishing much of the piping and engine parts (slowly, lol )
http://home.earthlink.net/~te_n_me/images/2.3T/2.3ttopview.jpg
Converted it to 5 lugs and put some Bullits on it also.
Both should be up and running by March (of course that won't happen, I'm sure the job will send me out of town soon)
Oh well, this was probably more info then the post called for :blah:
