Tonight I was pulling out of Stone Gate off 290 and Barker Cypress when I look up ahead and see another PSD (I was in the PSD with my wife). But this was no normal PSD...it had a huge HAPS banner in the rear window (Houston Area Powerstrokes). As I inspected the truck further I noticed the smaller tires up front with the HUGE BFG Drag Radials in the rear. The truck was an extended cab long-bed, with side exhaust exiting in front of the rear tire. He had a triple A-pillar gauges and the turbo sounded quite different than mine. As we crept up beside him my wife said "He's sprayin!" She noticed the Propane set-up in the bed (God I love this woman!).

So...we get out onto the feeder of 290 and I tell Janell I'm going to give him three honks and run him...she gives me the okay (did I mention I love this woman). Long story short...he walked me. I took off first and then he just crept up beside me and the pipes blew smoke and he was gone. I'm not even sure he was pushing it as I never really heard the turbo screaming. Pretty wicked.

Anybody know anything about this guy or HAPS?

Kyle

EDIT:

Here's the truck. Just found it on HAPS' website. Big pic so I'll just post a link.

Hey fellas,

I'm in the process of researching the 5k/10k mod right now. It is reportedly a $5 mod that has given people hp results similar to a chip. From what I understand it is a homemade circuit board that fools the computer based on a reading from a couple of potentiometers. It sounds pretty cool. Supposedly this is the same thing some of the chips do to get the horsepower. Not sure how valid it is, but people are reporting dyno proven 50 hp! There's plenty of reading on www.ford-diesel.com on this subject, that and the fuel tank mods.

I'm compiling a list of mods to do and I'll let you guys know how they turn out. They will all be free or cheap. :D

Brad Webster is the president of HAPS, He works where I work. Pretty cool bunch of guys. I went to a BBQ they had at a local Line-X bedliner dealer. They had like 60 trucks there...and it was pouring down rain! Some of the people there were from Dallas. They dont like me with my gasser Dodge:o

Quite frankly, when I am around all those Powerstrokes, I dont like my gasser Dodge either:D

Cool! Thanks for the information. I'm going to have to try and make one of their events. Looks like a lot of fun and maybe I could learn a thing or two about my truck.
