I'm not much of a bird fan, so when I saw the title to Michael Yon's latest post (http://www.michaelyon.blogspot.com/?BMIDS=17054330-12552132-93613), I was ready to pass. I'm glad I didn't (a "drunken elephant" reference caught my eye and my interest). Later in the post, interspersed with the blurry bird pics, are excerpts from letters and e-mails Yon has received while in Iraq. From veterans, kids and loved ones...like this:

"One request that I got over and over was, “Today is my grandson's birthday. He's 20, and I was wondering if you would give him a hug for me.” Like I'm really going to go hug man who has a sniper rifle, a machine gun, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and hand grenades in his room, and who, if he was one of my neighbors, had probably already killed men."

A wonderful counterpoint to this (http://www.conservativethinking.com/archives/2005/12/unbelieveable.php). If you'd like to send a message of support to the troops, click here (http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/index.aspx).
