I have a friend in Houston that really enjoys working on cars and drivetrain type stuff seems to be his forte. I'm conspiring ...

How much is this going to suck in terms of getting the work done? Save for a soft pedal, which I attribute to the fluid leakage, the clutch feels fine. I venture that this problem is about a seal going bad. I've never been into a hydraulic set up. Is it a trick? Should I limp it to Houston -was planning a trip out that way in the near future anyway- and let my expert friend help me fix it?

Ideas, comments, suggestions?

This represents the first problem I've had with the mighty F-150 -113,00+ miles. I would have opted for a F-250, but my penis wasn't big enough so Ford wouldn't sell me one (inside joke).

Brett,

I don't know anything about your particular truck, but I have heard of this guy in Houston you speak of. His personality alone is worth the price of admission, watching him work is a huge bonus.

On the other hand I do know the owner of a local AAMCO there in LC if limping this direction becomes out of the realm of possibilities. I will also be headed out to LC around Christmas. If I can help in some way let me know (transporting, wrenching...whatever).

Off to unload a skinned wild hog out of the 'burb...

Tenatively, I'll be out that way soon to buy a ranch.

1-2 acres :ity:

BTW Kyle, wrenches I have. Heck, I have even stepped up to the world of air tools. But, if you have a lift you could pack out, you'd be my hero. I'll even help you eat that hogg as a show of appreciation.

But, if you have a redneck lift you could pack out, you'd be my hero.

Cinder blocks...check.
Chunks of wood...check.
Hi-Lift jack fixed with bailing wire...check.

I'm sure we can find a dry ditch somewhere out there to put the finishing touches on the lift.

Reminds me of changing tires out at the farm when I was a kid. All we needed was a Hi-Lift and the bumper of the truck. Job done. lol

Brett,

That looks like a tough one as it's the TOB, LOL! Time to drop the tranny and get after it! Not sure if it's leaking on the disc, but if it does, you'll know!

This 'friend' owes you a couple of emails, but from what I understand he's been busy as all get out with work, home, kids, interviews, travelling, and trying to get his own junk worked on. He certainly isn't avoiding you, but seens to be overwhelmed in his old age...

O!

I haven't figured out your problem yet.

Keep a check on the fluid level and don't worry 'bout no steenking oil spots on your drive-way.

Take two quarts and call me in the morning. :D

No doubt that the tranny will need to be dropped, which sucks to no end. The actually repair will probably involve $10. in parts and 10 minutes. Dropping the tranny on a vehicle that is not a hot rod makes the job a major PITA.

Dammit.

This sounds like fun. Can I come out and "supervise" with my MaveRick style cooler? :D
