I ran a Trickflow Stage 1 cam on stock springs for a longgg time. I think I was pushing it though. Comp has abunch of small cams that look good to use for a little bumpedy bump bump action.

JMOpinion But, I've tried Every Ford Motorsports off the Shelf Cam for 5.0's from B cam -x-Cam with the same mods as your Sons and sometimes more mods such as on some of mine such as Upper/Lower Intake/Bigger Mass Air ,Throttle Body, Etc. and did not really gain any H.P...As long as the Car is a Mass Air Car or has been Converted too one I'd just stick with the B-Cam..Its a Small Lift like 484 I believe and You Can use your Stoch Springs..Hell Back in the Day We Actually Got away with Installing an X-Cam without hitting on Factory Springs, But I wouldn't try that again.. :thumb:

b cam wont pass emissions but if you arent worried about that then go with it i guess... if i wasnt changing everything out id go with some 1.7 rr's and stock cam for now

Doing a cam for "sound" sounds like a LOT of work to me. Just get a good exhaust and some 1.7:1 rockers and be done with it, IMO. I wouldn't do a cam until you choose to do heads/intake.

I agree with Fred… sorta. Keep the stock heads (since heads aren’t cheap) but at least pick up a used Explorer or Cobra intake for a couple hundred bux to help airflow with that new cam. You have to take the intake off anyway, might as well upgrade :)
As for a cam, can’t say I understand the desire to make it “sound” more powerful than it is. No offense, that’s kinda ricey. Most people here try to make their cars sound LESS powerful than they are so they can sneak up on people ;)
That being said, I don’t think you’re going to be able to go big enough with stock springs to really notice the “lump”. The EFI really mellows out the sound of the cam. For instance, I had an E cam w/ a carb and a buddy had one w/ EFI. Mine was noticeably lumpy while his sounded almost stock.

This is for his son...we were all there once. I know when I was 17 and built my first motor I chose a cam that was way too big because I wanted it to lope. :)
It ran like a turd too :ashamed:
