Doh, that makes 3 for 3 then this summer, as far as crank breakage causing block breakage.
Sorry to hear that dood. Good thing is, you "SHOULD" be able to find a bare block for not much $$. Also, be glad none of the machining had been done yet (didn't waste the $$).

I'm already shopping around - Best Block has rebuildable cores guaranteed not to have any cracks for $125.

Whatever you get, make sure it's a ROLLER block from an 85+ I needs to have the taller lifter bores and drilled and tapped holes in the valley to hold the lifter retaining spider thing.
Good luck,

I'll take the first block that comes my way that doesn't need boring.

Oooh....that sucks...
I must have missed the beginnings of this saga....Did your balancer go bad on you before the crank broke?
It seems like that's a typical sequence of events....balancer goes bad..wobbles like crazy and then the crank breaks. Now it seems like there's a third step in that process.. :(

Nope - pulled the balancer off first thing - came off completely intact...

Sorry to read about your tribulations............but hang in there, it can only get better (I hope)
Just goes to show you why I always send my blocks to the machine shop to be checked before I rebuild them. Like I said, it's money well spent now, so money that you get , can be spent well later.

Welcome back Alex - When did you get back? Been talking to that guy about that block - he only lives right up the road from me. Looks like this might work out afterall. He says it's rebuilt, I dont' know to what extent.
