I'm Lookin For A Good Machine Shop That Has More Experience On Building And Machining Aftermarket Sbf Engines
( Aftermarket Blocks)

I've Talked To Diffrent Well Known Machine Shops In Houston, And It Seems Like They Have Not Done Many Of This Or Some Of Them Have Never Worked On A Sbf Aftermarket Block, I Started Asking Questions Like How To Fit The Oil Pan, What Cam Bearing To Use, And Other Simple Questions Like That And I Realized That They Have Not Done Many Of This Or None At All.

I Need A Machine Shop To Machine The Block, Balance The Rotating Assembly, Assemble Shortblock, Install And Set Cam, Install Heads And Set Shaft Rockers, Valvetrain Geometry, And Guide Me In The Right Direction
I Know There Are Alot Of Great Shops Out Of Town But I Know There's Got To Be Some Good Shops In Town That's Done A Good # Of High Hp Ford Engines
I Talk To The Guys From Houston Engine And Balancing And They Seem To Know Or Done A Few More Than Other Shops. Also Somebody Recomended Usa Engines But Have Never Heard Of Them From Anybody Else
If Anybody Can Send Me To The Right Shop I Would Really Thank You For It
Thanks
Jc

Erik Koenig at HPE knows small block fords also. He would be a good person to talk to.

I'm not sure if they meet your requirements but I'm using Owens racing engines in Pearland. They seem to know what they are doing and from looking around their shop they have a lot of work, which I take as a sign of a good reputation. So far they have only polished my crank ($30.00) but my stock block is going in, in about a week.

If it were me, I'd talk to Erik first, as Brent said.

B&G is OK for what I do, but I wouldn't plop an aftermarket block on them. They -are- pretty good, but most of the high-dollar stuff they do is BBC boat engines (although they bleed blue!)...

Owens used to be one of the top Stock or Super Stock racers in the late eighties, early ninties. He too is pretty darned good, but my vote still goes to HPE...

Chris, er, O!
