Develop materials specifications for metallic materials and develop process specifications related to heat treatment and coating processes.
Evaluate new materials and processes, and qualify new vendors. Coordinate laboratory-testing programs related to materials and processes.
Provide metallurgical engineering support to Vetco Grays worldwide engineering, sales, supply management, manufacturing, and R & D personnel.
Duties Perform functions to provide support to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Sales, Marketing and Research and Development departments on matters related to materials and processes.
Develop new material specifications, in accordance with NACEMR0175 / ISO 15156 and API 6A / ISO 10423 and/or customer specific requirement as applicable.
Work independently on projects in support of Project Engineering, Materials Engineering and R & E efforts as appropriate.
Evaluate and promote new materials and processes to enhance VGIs competitive position.
Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities.
Perform all duties as assigned by management.
Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering with 3-5 years minimum experience. Experience with an oil and gas equipment manufacturer or an oil and gas exploration and production company. Experience in writing material specifications for compliance with API, ISO, and NACE standards covering surface and Subsea production equipment for oil and gas industry. Experience in selection of metallic materials for oil and gas drilling and production equipment. Some domestic and international travel required. Proficient knowledge of personal computers and computer software, such as MS Windows, AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel is preferred.
