Updates on the engine rebuild

Well, the machine shop got the water pump off, but can't get the timing chain cover off. Looks like I'll have to just buy one and have them break the one that's on there into bits.

Anyone know what years of 302's had timing chain covers that will fit on an 89? Might be a stupid ass question, but better safe than sorry.

Well...be prepared to pay a pretty penny for one. Ford wants like $150 for one. However, you should be able to find one used for (hopefully!) far less than that.

86-93 have the same front cover and an older carbureted cover might work if you use a block-off plate. 94-95 use a different water pump and front cover...

Why can't they get it off the block?

Yep, that one will work, looks the same as the one on my 86 gt. That's a good price too. Watch it till before it ends then start bidding on it.
