Sent Ruby to Texas Performance today to pick up a few feet of -12 hose. She was going to pay with a credit card until they told her they require a COPY of her TDL. SHe complained and the manager said they would not make a credit card sale w/o a copy of her TDL. She told them she would pay cash and then they refused that sale since she did not agree with thier credit card policy.
Net result: Texas Performance just lost all my business over a $23 no sale. Ruby is so pissed she is going to notify the credit card company of the violation of policy and is going to report them to the BBB tomorrow.

What a crock for $23

Ken, don't take this the wrong way but with all the identity theft going around I'd hope that they would ask to see a driver's liscence when using a credit card. Now if they where going to make a actual photo copy of her drivers liscence that is complete bullshit. Then to not take cash for the sale is even more bullshit!

No prob with verifying a photo id - matter of fact I welcome it. Writing down the TDL on the slip or worse making a photocopy is unacceptable. What's funny is, I just spent $200 about 1 week ago and they didn't ask me for nothing.

I've had good experiences there as well, I'll look elsewhere now. Too bad it is ran by a bunch of jackasses with some 16 year old kid with spiked hair and a rice burner behind the counter.

When I've worked in retail in the past I had to write down peoples tdl# on checks but not credit cards. I've had purchases there well over $200, put it on a card and they didnt say shiza. Strange people.....

Better get used to it...the Real ID Act (what amounts to a national identity card) has been passed and takes effect in three years. Check out http://news.com.com/FAQ+How+Real+ID+will+affect+you/2100-1028_3-5697111.html

Privacy? We don't need no stinkin' privacy.
