Good morning all! I was sitting here thinking (ouch!) about the old black bomb and headgaskets and such, and wondered aloud if I shouldn't try the MLS gaskets, just for sport. Have any of you used them, and if so, what are your thoughts?
Anybody know where I can get a set? Now that I'm on the road to recovery, I think it's high time I get the black car sorted back out so I can have some fun with it.
Help me, please! :D

Just for reference O!, Ford uses a MLS gasket on the 4.6 and 5.4 engines, maybe some others, but I'm not sure.
Everyone seems to talk highly of the Cometic gaskets and there has also been some mention of Fel-Pro making a MLS gasket.
You can purchase the gaskets directly from Cometic, www.cometic.com, or from Bennett Racing. I am not sure where, or if, you can purchase the Fle-Pro MLS gaskets.

Thanks Troy! I searched Summit briefly the other day (when I wasn't lucid!), and read a couple of FP descriptions that indicated MLS...
I may have to give them a go!

I think I remember Joe saying that Slater's carries em.

o' , slater's has been known to carry a few. their selection is limited. i have them on my current motor and mike just installed them.. ordered from bennett. the felpro is probably as good although i don't know anyone who has them. depending on how thick you get then probably $150 for two.

Thanks Fred and Joe! I went back and looked at the ones on Summit, and they are for SVO blocks only. I may try Slater's here in a bit, or see if anyone at FFW might have them...

O! I think Mark Garrett used to run them also. Not sure how long he ran them, but you might be able to get his thoughts.

Mr. Mickleserson,
Yes, Mark did run those gaskets, but I have not seen hide nor hair of him or Mr. Skinner for over a year. I think I made them mad? :whoknows:
Mark swore by them, and if I see him at FFW, I'll be sure to harass him...
Thanks!

I have them on my windsor. I got them from t and p in San Antonio. They were also for an svo application, I ordered them for the windsor so I don't know why they were for an svo. I matched up all the holes to my old gaskets and I didn't see any reason why they would not work. One year later and they are still going strong.

I run them on my 331. I got them from G&S Auto in Sweeny Tx. They had to order em. He got two sets not sure if he would still have the other. It was over a year ago.

i don't know if there is any difference in the svo gasket. ford racing blocks have extra water holes for different head combinations. the cometic gaskets i have extend down to cover the entire deck surface of my r302 block and its extra holes. a regular production gasket does not cover the entire lower deck or head surface.
