is there a way to get a speed density car to accept larger injectors with out converting it?

how much power can the stock injectors handle?

how do you know when your stock injectors are not able to keep up?

Don't know of a way to add larger injectors with SD.

One way to tell if the stock injectors (19lbs.) is to measure utilization while @ WOT. Or, if it feels like it falls on its face at upper RPM's. Worse yet, if it starts detonating!

There's not a whole lot of mods you can do to a SD setup.

You can actually put larger injectors in a SD car but the math you have to do to find out what size injector you need based on fuel need to stock pulse width because the computer will fire them the same amount of time as it a 19lbers you have to know all sort o crap to do it If you are concerned about running out of fuel adjust your fuel prussre up first see if thtat is enough if not then I recomend the apgradeing to mass air.

I am currently running 24lbs injectors on an 88 LX w/ SD. The main problem I have run into is surging idle at times, but not a big deal at all. The setup I'm using is as follows:

302 block, .030 bored, forged alum. pistons
stock heads, polished & ported
stock cam (stud mounted roller rockers)
stock lower & upper intake (Lower was heavily porter)
stock SD EFI
24lbs injectors, stock fuel reg., 190lph fuel pump
NOS 75hp shot of juice

This setup has gotten me low 13's on old worn out radials. Not bad for an LX that hasn't yet been worked over properly. This was a budget toy, what can I say I'm a cheap bastard that wants to go fast.

I think if you stick with the stock "type" cam, it might not be that bad. If I remember right many years ago, I tried to swap out the cam and injectors. The cam was an E-cam. It poured out black smoke at idle and then eventually fouled the plugs. SD is tricky. Might be worth upgrading to Mass Air... then the skies the limit.
