I've been running more power than that (about 450 rwhp) through my early model (1969ish) with nothing more than good red clutches and a altered forward pattern semi manual valve body for a couple of years now without any problems.

Get the Haynes ford transmission manual, it goes into great detail on the workings of the C4 and will pay for itself quickly. I couldn't believe how easy it was to go through the transmission after I started. I would rebuild your unit with good clutches and steels, a hardened input shaft, maybe an upgraded drum and valvebody but that wouldn't be required at your horsepower level. If you don't get a valvebody a shift kit would be a good investement.

It's all in how much you want to spend....you can go through yours and add the parts mentioned for about $300-$500 or you can pony up the big bucks for the $1500 PA or other units and not have to worry much about it again if you ever want to increase your rwhp.
