View Full Version : 460 in an 84 fox
Have a buddy that just picked up a 460 out of an old LTD and got an 84 fox. I was wondering how hard it would be to mate the two? What would be a good head combo for it etc. I am new to BBF so any incite would help me and him.
Thanks, Nick

Best bet it to join the BigBlockFox mailing list (http://fordifiedracing.homestead.com/bigblockfox.html) and search the archives. It's all been covered there in depth... enjoy! :)

I know different motor mounts, exhaust, and tranny specifics (i.e. big bell C4)..

Nick, have your friend contact Bob at D&D Auto Specialties. He offers all of the components to make the swap. Everyone on the BBFox mailing list seem to always have good luck with his parts.

There is also a guy named Bob Meyer that posts on the BBFox mailing list, he offers K-member spacers which help with hood clearance issues.
To further clarify the "big" bell that Ben mentioned, he would need the "big big" bell for a C4. This bell is usually found in some early '80s Ford vans equipped with the 351M or 400M backed by a C4. If he already has a C6 trans it will fit in the Fox, it's tight, but it will work.
On the head selection, if he'll be doing mostly street driving he can get away with a set of factory iron heads, either the DOVE or D3VE castings will work well with some minor port work. If he needs more performance he can upgrade to an Edelbrock aluminum head, they offer a couple of different heads now for the 460's. Then there's the Blue Thunder or TFS A460 heads, I wouldn't recommend either of these for a street cruiser, they are more at home on a strip only car.

You guys rock....Thanks!!!
