Anybody know the differences in these two kits? The 5115 is for the 5.0 and the 5116 is for the 4.6. I want to know any physical differences between parts that come with each kit. Anybody have experience with the 5116 kit?

FWIW I also have sent an e-mail to Holley.

...and what might you be thinking? :D

Sorry, no real help...

Oh...nothing, just thinking of a way to sneak some power into the wife's vert. Afterall she is gone all week and my car is down with the trannie problem. I'm bored and always thinking ahead.

Can you think of any potential problems running the 5115 on a 4.6. It should theoretically work the same. Could the differences in fuel systems be a problem. It seems to me that as long as the fuel pressure spikes (as it does on the 5.0) then it should work just as well on a 4.6. Get a bigger in-tank pump, and then put the kit on the 4.6, would it work? Just thinking out loud.

BTW I got a transmission jack adaptor today at Harbor Freight for $29! And a 4" angle grinder for $17. I spent an hour in there this morning and still couldn't find that dang RTV squeeze tool deal. The guy knew what I was talking about but we couldn't find it.

LOL! I was there over the weekend (after the Conroe bust!), and looked all over for the valco deal too; no luck...

You might hit Highlander up about the kit; he runs an NOS system on his now. I'm not sure what the returnless fuel system does to you though.

Please don't break the wife's car while she's gone; that would be worse than killing her cat (don't ask :D)!...

Go order some tranny parts!

Nay!

You were up at Harbor Freight? 290 and Jones? That's like 5 minutes from my house!

I've also been looking into getting a MIG welder. The wife already gave it the thumbs up, now I just need to decide. It's a tough decision between that and a air compressor. I'm thinking welder though. Been itchin for one for a while.

Hopefully I'll get the tranny pulled this week. Depends on if I can get all the honey-dos done before Friday. I've nearly wasted 3 days now, so it's gonna be tight. The pile is getting bigger, LOL!

The valco squeezers are near the presses, jacks, etc, on the last row that ISN'T against the wall (where the air tools and hoses are). They are on the end of the row, towards the back of the store. I was just there like the week before last, and saw them. Maybe they had just sold out. Sucks I didn't get another one when I saw it, b/c mine broke like 2 days later while reassembling my motor, hehe.

Btw, talk to Chris before going out and buying some 4 heat position welder. I spent a little more on mine than some would have, but I am SUPER happy with it and think it was worth every penny.

Fred, what kind of welder do you have?

That's where I was looking Fred; they must've been out. I wanted one for the toolbox...

Bubba: Century 175A 220V unit...(GS175?)

/me has it's twin!

I found them at BR Welder (http://www.brwelder.com/home.html) and got them for about $75 cheaper than everywhere else, even after shipping...Hmm, I see they don't offer ours anymore Fred; either that or I just can't see it. If you get the model number, we can do a Google (http://www.google.com) search...

Thanks Fred! I'll have to go back and look tomorrow. I think I'm going to have to take the trans jack adaptor back anyway. I think it is going to be too tall to do any good. The adapter is 9.5" tall and that sits on top of my jack. Probably going to be too tall to really help me in my garage.

Thanks for the tip on welders, I was going to check with you guys anyway. I may get all my questions answered in this post except for the one I posted about, LOL!

I have this trans jack ( http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=39178 ) and myself and Brent have used it a TON of times. It works well. While it's not hydraulic, it has done everything I've ever asked of it to do.

To get the trans out from under the car, ON the trans jack, I have to make sure the car is high enough to begin with, then teeter the trans on the jack here and there to clear the frame and pinch weld. Now that I think about it, that's on my 86, which has no SFC's. I dont think I've ever been able to roll the trans out on the jack with my 91 (since it has sfc's). I usually push it off and drag it out, lol. Still, it's a big help when trying to fiddle-faddle with getting the damn thing stabbed in there.

Bah! One of the attributes to having a big belly is a built in tranny jack.

Slide trans under car...
wriggle under the car beside it..
lift the tailhousing and place on lower extremities (since I no longer need them!)...
lift the front of the trans by the bearing retainer, setting on chest and stomach...
'pooch' your belly up to it's maximum height (note for the less endowed: you may have to arch your back!)...
With a forceful pelvic thrust, drive tranny home...

Real mean don't use tranny jacks, LOL!

Neighbors tech tip: remove tranny mount first; studs hurt!

I have to agree with nay ecept I am not fat by any means but I can bench a T-56 so my tranny jack goes everywhere with me and it was free...Well it does like to get fed every now and then,

Regards,

Thanks Fred. I was actually looking at going back and getting that one. It is currently on sale for $49, but it sounds like it may be too big too. Oh well. I guess I'll try Nay's way. I'll just make sure I take my cell phone under the car with me so I can call for help when the trannie falls and on my "trannie jack", LOL!

Kyle,

I've kinda done it similar to Nay's way MANY times - never could afford that fancy stuff to do it "right", and it is no problem. Even had my wife help me one time - never again - it was easier to do it myself!

Good luck!

Thomas
