Ok, I want to get a cheap set of rims to mount a set of weekend warrior tires. What set-up do you suggest?
ET-Streets or BFG D/R?
They will only be on the car for weekends when there is the possability of a race.

FWIW, my neighbor tried the BFG's - 'paled in comparison' to ET's (his words).

In your case, I'd like to suggest the 16" waffles and 26-10.50-16 ET Streets. I have them on my Fox, and have cut 1.74's on them (compared to 1.71's on true slicks). Kind of stealthy in your case, being on an SN95...If you're going to run them part time, ET Streets...

What rim will 26-10.50-16 ET Streets fit on measurments please- I know shit about tire sizes.

The ET Streets are measured at the widest section of the carcass; in thias case 10.5" converts to 267mm width. The waffles are 7.5" wide, and fit the tires pretty good (I can take a pic tonight, if you like). If you are going for aftermarket wheels, make sure they clear your rear (Cobra) brakes before you buy a 15" unit...
The 10.5" ET would fit nicely on anything from a 7" to a 9" rim, and still provide a ood contact patch without deforming the sidewall too much (which translates into instability at speed...).
I suggest the waffls because they are fairly cheap, easy to get, and appear 'stock' (because they are, LOL!); plus, for as bulky as they look, they are LIGHT...
Chris
If you want to spend some money, you might consider finding a set of 10" wide wheels somewhere (watch backspacing!) and run a 26-11.5 ET Street (292mm wide)...

A link from MPS: http://www.mustangpartsspecialties.com/home.cfm?section=products/index
They were stock on a number of Mustangs in 94/95, namely the GTS's (Darrell's car had them). Hit a cuople of yards and see what they have...
Chris
$319? Too bad you couldn't wait for a FFW; they 'usually' have them there for $260 or so (and no shipping or tax)...Most everybody I know likes them, but I've yet to install mine...

Although I stated above that my neighbor swears by the ET's over the BFG's, one thing to consider is the rate of speed (he's mostly stop-lighting).
I would think the radial would be MUCH more stable at sustained higher speeds (100+) compared to the E.T's.
If you're running up red light to red light, consider the ET's, if you're running out of the shoot and beyond coming outta the toll-booth, you might wanna consider the BFG's.
Hell, put one on one side and and one on the other! :D
Keep us posted on your decision and how they work out.

Ken,
The radial is going to be MUCH more stable at speed (like Rick mentioned). With a radial, you are in control of where the car goes...period
With the ET Street....you are just there to try and keep the car in the same lane...LOL YOu get the feeling you are just kind of there for the ride. Not really a big deal (I ran bias-ply daily for over a year), but takes some getting used to.
There is a guy that works on Jacksboro Hwy near my house that has a black 99+ car. He uses a solid black "wagon-wheel" style rim and some sort of a slick/ET. Might try to track him down and see what he's running... He works at a place that's on the east side of the road inbetween United Supermarkets and Scott's Hamburgers.
If you do decide to go with a tire that will hook, take a REAL good look at subframes, the torque boxes, the torque boxes, and also the torque boxes. :) Don't end up with torque boxes that look like Michael's...:P
Sounds like these F-body guys are finally gonna have some competition...LOL Can't wait to get back and see how things turn out!

D/Ken: those black steel wheels are most likely American Racing 767 series...Summit Racing has them for about $35 each, but they are heavy!

Well if I use drag radials, the Nittos are much cheaper I believe, but I don't know if they hook as good as the BFG's.
I am looking for a set of subframes right now just not sure wich to get.

Hey Ken...
My personaly preference on subframes are the MM full-lengths (or any full-length), but I have used the Kenny Brown Super Subs in the past. They got the job done I suppose and are quite a bit cheaper than the full-lengths.

That's it D! If I had a kick/ban option I'd use it, LOL!
Ken,
I build SFC's; Darrell has a set that Fred installed. You have one shot at it, so please, please, please don't use the Kenny Browns. MM's are very good, as are South Side, Ground Pounders (?) and <s>Wild Rides</s>. When shopping, look for the tallest material and the thickest wall (FWIW, mine are 1-1/2" x 2" x .120" wall; KB's are 1" x 1-1/2" x .083" wall...). Stiffness is propertional to the height (at a cubed increase!) of the material; so the taller the better...
I'd strongly encourage you to get full-lengths with seat braces...
Can you fabricate? If so, why not make your own? They aren't bad, just time consuming...
...now if we could get a welder...
Nay!

LOL!
OK...don't get the KBs...haha
I reason I didn't mention that you make them is because of the talk we ad a while ago about you getting out of that business...

Well I looked at the MM's they seem pretty good. I was looking at the full lengths but didn't see anything about a seat brace.
I was a welder for Walker "Tenneco"Chrysler for 12 years and if I had some plans I could easily do my own or at least had the parts cut and a rough sketch of where everything needed to go.
BTW, My Spec Stage2 showed up today:)

Well hell is that all there is to it? I will have them done in a week and put them on next weekend....sheesh I thought they were complicated before seeing the drawings.
Thank you very much for the info...BTW I am sorry I missed the T-shirt buy in and window sticker buy in, I didn't check the threads until it was to late:(
I was thinking, while I weld these up I may as well make a weld jig so I could do future SFC very quickly,at least for the SN95 guys.

Well I am going to get a set of Nitto's since there is a group purchase going on. This way I can just leave them on the car all the time until winter and save up some $$ to do the suspension and tranny work.
Suggested size for my cobra r's?
