Well, the time has come for me to consider moving on from my current position. I've been a contractor at this company for over four years and recently a permanent position was opened up. Well, long story short, I didn't even get an interview for it. So to me, this tells me that I'm good enough to do the grunt work as a contractor and cover all the employee's asses, but not good enough to become an employee myself. So needless to say I'm a little upset about this and am starting to look elsewhere.

Carl,
Keep an eye out here - we have just completed a reorg and I'm pretty sure they will be hiring more IT staff soon.

Thanks Todd, I'll watch it. There are two Desktop Support Coordinators, but I may be under-qualified without IT management experience. I may apply though.

Hey Carl, check out Texas Children's Hospital's careers page here (http://www.texaschildrenshospital.org/allabout/careers/default.aspx). Search under "Professional" and look for the jobs titled "Tecnical Support Analyst" and "Workstation Deployment Specialist". There are three jobs listed. There's also a server job (team I'm working on), if you're interested.
Browsing on MD Anderson's site for myself I've noticed a couple of desktop support jobs recently, and MD Anderson pays really well ;).
Good luck with your hunt!

Carl,
I'll sell you my BS CS degree cheap, lol! I know how you feel man. That's why I left IT and decided on starting my own business in something I really enjoy. I got tired of pimping myself out on contract jobs. I worked one job for 13 months and never even started the project I was hired for. It amazes me how some companies can run their business and still be financially successful.

Rusty, I want to put you down as a referral for my online application, but I don't know your last name, phone number, or department

Carl,
This guy has been bugging me with opportunities for the past year. His last one was a doozie, but I'm really happy where I'm at and didn't even give him an updated resume. The point is, he's ALWAYS coming across jobs in I.T. The bad news is most of the ones he has are contract to hire.

I've been to a couple of different people there at Strategic. I'll give him a call as well. I applied for one or two that they have posted on their job board yesterday. I've been through a Cathy, an Arthur, and Mike Goyens up there.
