I have a 306 with alum heads 9.2:1 compression and 12lbs. of intercooled boost. With 43lbs. fuel pressure on 24lbs injectors and a FMU, I have timing set at 10 degrees btdc and the 6btm pulling out 1 degree per lb of boost, and am also running vp 104 race gas atm. What I was wondering is if it be safe to start leaning it out, cause at the track last weekend it made it's best past with the motor overheating from a frozen water thermostat. Thinking bout just bumping the timing up to 12degrees intial and dropping base fuel pressure to 40 and leaveing the fmu set were it is, which at full boost jumps the pressure up to 80psi. Just looking to get a little bit more out of her till i can get the 42lb injectors and a tweecer. Any ideas? Thanks.

What do you have for a fuel pump? You can probably drop the FP down to stock since the FMU will be spiking the pressure up for you. That should lean out your open loop driving some, except when the FMU kicks in, 3# won't make any difference.
As for the timing you could EASILY put your BTM at 0 and leave your dist at 10^ base while running 104. For pump gas, I would bump the distributor to 12^ and set the BTM at .5.

Have Walbro 255lph in-tank pump and a 255lph inline pump, all fuel rails still stock atm tho with a kirban pressure regulator.

You'll be plenty fine for when you put those 42's on!

Thanks for the help. Just was not impressed with the performance of the car at the track last friday, so looking for some more outta it. Seems like adding a blower would pull more then .6 off the 1/8th times, but guess i could be wrong. BTW this is rays little brother. So ty for the insight again.

Well with as much timing as you were pulling out I'm surprised it moved very fast at all :)

Exactly what I told him Ben!!!Boy won't listen to his older brother, damn kids!!Running 104 I told him he could set the BTM to 0 and it wouldn't hurt, the other reason the car wasn't making any et was cause it was spinning tires mph was at 88 to 89 mph in the 1/8 spinning tires the whole freakin way down the track! If he gets the car to hook and fixes the vacuum leaks it should see some 7.40's in the 1/8 mile.
