Not really much to update on my end. Car has sat in the garage since my last race at HMP a few weeks back. Cranked it up the other day and went and put some 93 octane in it. I put the pony wheels on the back that I bought from Joey just to drive it around on the street. I bought the ponies to put on the 92 Vert that I have.
The vert is still sitting in my parents barn. Maybe if I win some money this weekend I'll drag it out and start working on it. All it needs is new head gaskets to be in running condition, but it needs a new top before I can daily drive it as well as a new seat rail for the drivers side. I've got a couple of front rotors for it with new brake pads that I picked up from Alex Ekrot, got some window motors as I think they might have gone out on one or two windows. I've got all the gaskets for the top except the head gaskets. I just don't want to pull it out until I can afford to put a top on it $400.

So hows about you guys?

Shane you ready for tomorrow?
Fred, whats the ETC on your car?
Christina's car in running shape?
Joseph when is yours going to be done?
Chris Neighbors?
Ray?
Rus?
Rick?
Anyone else I'm missing?

I'm going to be down for a bit, it seems. I rattled the thing the other day pretty good, and do believe I have a gasket to replace... :D

Oh well, such is the way of the world...

O!
...but fishtailing while passing is cool!

The only way my car is going anywhere is if we push it! :) I've sold most of the internals. My next purchase will be a set of heads, I have half of my fuel system already... and my intake... I'm in the collecting parts phase. For the time being, we'll probably have our hands full with Fred's car, so my build process will be slow, which sucks... but that also allows me time to get good stuffs!

I wound up having to replace a broken starter. Because of the close proximity to the header tube, I had to grind some of the flange off around the top starter bolt hole to get the first one on - not surprisingly, that's where it broke. On this one, I bent the header tube a little more so I didn't have to grind on the starter flange.

The engine still only runs for a few seconds then cuts off. Marc was trouble-shooting that problem when the starter gave out.

He's scheduled to come over again this weekend to finalize the wiring, hopefully.

I got a new toy delivered today while I was at work with the initials D-2R :D Still working on getting some of the supporting hardware to optimize the setup. :naughty:

Next outting will most likely be Sunday. Big race in town with some 5 and 6 sec cars on hand. Traction should be awesome, hoping for a new best. :burnout:

Mine is closer. My upper control arms came in, so I can now install the rearend.

Once it's in, I'll need to plumb the brake lines, install the anti-rollbar and install the braces to the housing.

After that, I need to get some caliper pins so I can install the brakes all the way. Then I can trim the rear gfx and put the tires on and see how they (or IF they) clear.

I have to modify my exhaust some and then install it.

I need to finish fuel system (need to find a good place to mount regulator, then run lines to/from it).

I need to bolt up the blower, alt, discharge tube, etc etc for final install. Radiator and fan need installing. Need to get/install all new black gages.

I need to install bumpsteer kit on my rack and get actual bolts needed to mount the rack to the K for good.

Oh, and I forgot to wire up the fuel pump via relay, so I still need to do that.

A lot of work is left. Not sure I'll be done in time for FFW. Oh well.

Well, I was all set to sell the Ventura (aka No Nova), but my friend that was going to buy it had some event happen to him that are keeping him from getting it. I still want to see about working a deal with him to get the body and the long block, but who knows. Worst case I'll have a bunch of GM parts for sale soon.

The Cobra was going to get some ported GT40s, but that won't happen until aforementioned (Rick, that's a big word meaning..uhh...aforementioned ;)) car/parts are sold.
I have a water pump and all hoses to replace as well as wanting/needing to work on the front suspension. I can't really do any of it until that aforementioned car is gone. My neighborhood frowns on working in the driveway.

I am in the process of putting the "NOS" on my car. Actually it is a Performer RPM kit I picked up a while back. I am going to try and compete with these guys running at midnight madness in San Antonio. This is a monthly heads up race that was won last month by a Mustang running 9.30's. However it usually takes more than that to win it. My car has gone 10.20's all motor. So if it hooks when I nuke it I am pretty confident I can do better than 9.30's. I also have some 28 12.50 et streets and 10 inch wheels on the way to help with the traction. Slicks are allowed in this class but I also run some classes that don't and since I can only afford one set of tires at a time I am hoping this will get it done.

Harvey that car is going to fly on the juice! Just hope you can hook it on those ET Streets!

I finally ran 1/4 mile with the new converter this weekend. New best all motor, but its not liking the nitrous too much for 1/4 mile. It went 11.31@118.9 on motor with a 1.59 sixty foot (spun a little), then backed it up with an 11.35@118.2 with a 1.57 sixty foot on motor. I couldn't get it to 60 ft all morning, would just come out weak, I tried more and more timing and it just wasn't improving, so Brian Warwas suggested adding fuel pressure. I bumped it up from around 33-35 up to 40 psi (I couldn't tell for sure where it was as I bumped the gauge and it moved a bit after I adjusted). I was rewarded with a 1.60 sixty foot and 11.45@117mph. So I bumped it another 2 psi to 42 psi and was rewarded with the new best 11.31 with a slightly spinning 1.59 sixty foot.
On the nitrous it was going 6.94@99 at the 1/8 and 10.91@120-121 1/4 mile on the rev limiter before the traps. So I'm gonna have to get that chip to lose the rev limiter some time this week and see what it does, then I'll decide whether this 8" converter is going to stay in or be pulled and switched back to the 10" PA that I've been running. Could probably get more $$$ out of the 8" when I sell it.
Other than that, the car is parked in the garage still on the trailer from this weekend waiting to be pulled to Strictly this week for the chip, then to HMP next weekend for the next Clobberthon.

That is pretty impressive to go that fast all motor with that small c.i. Sounds like you have almost matched the nitrous passes from before. That is some good mph.

Well, I don't think its impressive enough, really slow for a 347, especially considering Chuck is nipping at my heals with his 306 running a best of 11.45. I want 11.00s n/a, 10.90s would be a blessing, but 11.00s would make me happy!

11's???

Heck, I'm crossing my fingers for a 13 second pass here soon. :D

Even though I don't post much on here (as of late), I have a few updates.

I found my vibe problem. a new (to me) 8.8 w/ 3.73's, LCA's, and an FMS Al driveshaft are waiting to be installed here soon.

Once I get that done, I'll be going to the track and see if I can finally break into the 13's. I can't do any major mods (heads, intake, etc) because I'm still running SD. Once I get over that hill, I'll be better off. I'm pretty happy with the car thus far, it would be a good bracket racer.

I'm getting ready to pull mine apart to change out the head gaskets and check to make sure the block is still in one piece. Going to paint under the hood to match the car and detail a few other minor items i've been thinking about. I'm also pulling the black magic fan off the car( for sale if anyone is interested $100) and switch to something different. Thats about it for now. So far i've got the hood off the car so i need to pick up the pace if I want it done for FFW.

I have sold the vert to a fellow POMOFO who will have it back in good shape again, it's nice to know that a car that you have spent a long time with is going to a good home. I just completed a header swap on the coupe, I went to 1 3/4 BBK longtubes instead of the 1 5/8 BBKs that I had. It was a cheap upgrade but I don't think it will make too much difference in performance, I guess we will find out. The plan is to still try and get some color on the car by FFW but I'm not sure if that will happen. I'm still having issues with my damn F150, I did a bunch of work on it recently and I'm having hell getting it to pass the damn Harris County low speed emisions. Oh well, I'll get it fixed one day...It's BBQ time, I'm ready to party, come on Thursday!

Still have the start-then-die issue.

Fuel pressure okay. Replaced starter (separate issue).

Rick I'll try and come out there this Saturday (got a few free hours) and see if I can't solve it.
Did a new starter correct the alignment/grinding issue?

Doubt I will be doing much else to the car. Might swap to some 4.10 gears here soon.

It 'grinded' on me a few times - but nothing close to what it was doing before.

Just gimme a shout when you can make it out.

And many thanks!

What the hell is that? Is that one of those newfangled mod motors. Maybe TxBandit will chime in. I hear he's the mod guru.

It's too narrow to be a mod motor.

Must be one of them "Wanker" engines.
