That is a good looking car. Granted I am kinda partial to white fox bodies.

Now lets get it running as good as it looks.

Im open to suggestions .. Also i was thinking of going with the Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake .. I know a 302 is only good for around 500 hp before u risk splitting the block, but i want to get as close to that as possible .. I would love to make a solid 450-475 at the crank even if its with spray .. I love the quick reving 302's ..

Different set of heads, cam, gears, and a nice little plate kit of gas and that car could possibly run 10's depending on what stall size is in the C4 and how good your suspension/traction is. I can't help you with the intake/carb selection since I have always been an EFI guy.

Can't go wrong with any of these heads: AFR, TFS, Canfield, Brodix, Edelbrock.
A bolt on of any of those heads along with a matching cam, a 650 dp holley, an an rpm/airgap intake will get you in the 300 rwhp range with the other items you have (ie exhaust, distributor, etc...) Slap on a nitrous plate kit capable of up to 250 horsepower, jet it for 200 horsepower and have enough power to run 10s at 3200 lbs. Then the rest will lie in the chassis and suspension setup.

Personally if streetability isn't too much of an issue (shouldn't be since you're running a C4), here's the combo I'd choose:
AFR 185 heads box stock, maybe milled a little for compression with upgraded springs and titanium retainers (for higher rpm)
Edelbrock RPM/Victor Jr/Weiand Stealth intake (something similar that makes power from 3000-7000)
Comp XE 274 or 282 cam (suited for a stroker, but will be fine for higher reving with the titanium retainers on the heads)
Holley 650dp or 700 carb
This would probably make one heck of a nitrous motor with that cam, but still be capable of high 11s n/a with the right converter, gearing, and chassis.

I'd suggest subframe connectors and torque box work if not already done. Gears; yes!

Several of us here have done a number of things oursleves, and have tried to document them as we go. Check out the tech articles portion for some of the stuff...

3.55 or 3.73's keep the intake for now, but junk the carb.(Holley!) Add a 250 plate kit and lower the ass a little and you have a 12 sec stang. but you will need subframes and torq. box's along with some good upper lower control arms. The heads and stuff will come in time this will get you in the hunt for minimal $$$$$$$$ :racing:

P.S. Welcome!

Thanks for the response ..Would a Holley 650 DP be good?? Im also gonna check out some of the tech articles as Otis suggested and see what some of yall did .. I was thinking around a 3,000 stall what do you think ??? Is there any particular torque converter brands out there that yall have had good luck with like hughes, tci etc. ??

I hope it would run faster than 12's with a 250 lol ..

I agree, keep the intake you have. It's a single plane and will yield better results if you add a plate style nitrous kit. If you swap it for a dual plane intake you'll run into distribution problems if you start spraying over 150. If you are insistent on changing the intake I'd go with a Victor Jr. You'll lose some bottom end, but the nitrous will more than make up for it. A 650 DP carb will work fine, but I'd suggest pony'ing (no pun intended) up a little extra cash and getting the HP style.

I've always had someone build my convertors from scratch. Circle D builds great ones.

That's a nice coupe! Did you trade your Nova for it?

Is that a Torker or a Torker II?

I'd definitely recommend a Holley carb so you'l have some tuneability. 650 DP will work well although if you decide to go big with the heads and cam, you may want to step up to a 750 DP.

Check the timing curve with a timing light. A stock Duraspark distributor has such strong springs that full advance isn't realized until after 5000rpm...

Choosing heads, cam, and intake will all depend on the goal for the car...

Good Luck

Nova SS: do you know a guy named Sean Spoerle (not sure if I got his name spelled right, pronounced Spur-lee)?

I'll have to give them a call .. The car is suppost to have a 2200 stall already, but it only actually stalls to around 1600 rpms ..I wonder how much Cirlce D would charge to re stall it to around a 3,000 ...

The AOD I got came with a PI 2,200 stall converter. Cost me $300 at Circle D to get raised to a 3k stall. It was a little more then he expected. Reason it was so much was because mine needed a new stator and a new pump. The converter had to be machined to get the new pump to fit. I can now foot brake mine to 2,800 rpm's with ease. I might even be able to go higher on the footbrake on sticky tires since I did the 2,800 rpm on regular street tires and on the street. I can flash it to about 3,100 rpm's.
