Since Liz did her community service by posting "After age 35--a man's view of a woman!", I thought I'd do mine for the 35+ crowd by posting what effectively pulls the heartstrings of a 35+ woman. One that's lived a few years, and maybe even kissed her prince to find a frog...
1. Cook dinner for her kids. Their favorites, from broccoli to chicken nuggets, without needing to ask what those favorites are.
2. Cook dinner for her. Her favorites. And insist she watch you prepare and serve it up while sipping on the wine/beer you had ready and waiting for her when she got home from work.
3. Build her a fire. A real one. Because you know that's what she likes. And let her sit there, staring into it for as long as she wants. Even if that means you have to put her kids back to bed if they get up while she's outside.
4. Bring her berry cobbler ala mode. Because that's her favorite.
5. Leave her, if you need to, to call your son as you do every night to tell him you love him and share the day's happenings with him. Because one of the things she cherishes about you is how you cherish your child, and, by extension, her's too.
6. Run a bubble bath, surround it with candles, and suggest that the smoke is heavy enough outside that she should come in for awhile.
7. ...yeah, you know what's her favorite. Time to end the evening...
8. Spend your day off the next day to build her something that she's wanted for years.
I hope this helps, just a few hypotheticals for general benefit. And if anyone's wondering what happened to at least some of the wood removed from the infamous hot tub project, I'll be spending at least part of my summer sitting on it under my willow tree...
