Decided to install a front mount I have had laying around for a while. Got it from a MKIII Supra.
I moved the radiator and it's brackets over towards the passenger side (about 2"). I also had to cut a miniscule amount close to the passenger side inner marker lamp.
I then fabbed some brackets, cut an opening in the bumper core like so

I then fabbed some cold piping to and from the cooler. I ran 2" to the cooler and 2.5" to the throttle body. Also havea 1.5" pipe added in before the throttle body that feeds the volvo bypass valve (same one I was using when I had the stock TC top mount)
I also Swiss Cheesed the front bumper cover and put some grill behind it and the bumper cut out. It all came out like so

I thought I might have some trailer hitching or lag issues becasue of the piping length but I'm happy to report it drives just fine! :D
So far not a lick of "ping" and not running any water/alky like I had to do with the TC intercooler.
Before I paint it, I'm going to get a new bumper cover and make a rectangular cut out (like in the bumper) . Come up witha creative way to install some mesh and screen and it should look pretty nice. No telling when that will be though. Need to do the suspension (needs struts, tires and an alignment like NOW) want to pull the motor apart and make it all Shiney and Purty (well at least make it look better then it does now) and finish building the fiberglass enslosure and panels for the stereo. All in due time I guess ;)

What all is done to that thing computer and fuel wise? They're not mass air, so how does all that work. I had a 4 cylinder vert and was considering some type of JY turbo setup for it, but have no idea how it would all work with factory components or what to upgrade it with, ie injectors, computer, etc...

Only things the 2.3 shares with the 2.3T are the block, intakes, distributor, timing belts, front accessory.
2.3T uses a different head, cam, pistons, fuel injectors, computer (just off the top of my head) For fuel/air management it uses a VAF.
More hassle then it's worth to try and boost a crappy stock 2.3. Easier and cheaper to get a complete drive train/computer from a 2.3T equipped car (SVO, Merkur Xr4TI, ThunderBird Turbo Coupe, Cougar XR7) and drop it in place of the stock 2.3 non turbo.

hmm, so how do you tune it to accept more boost and provide more fuel?

Carl,

I know the TwEECer supports the 2.3T based eec's. THere's also a fair amount of 2.3T guys using the EEC-Tuner as well.

Actully sing the twEECer, eec-tuner. or the the J31mx s not so common or needed.
The VAF is an estimator above 3900 at WOT. The reason few guys have went to tuners is to get driveability back when changing to a larger set of injectors (like 46# units)
The VAF tables are pretty basic. It assmes a certain amont of air is enterng the engine by how far the door is open. When you go WOT above 3900 RPM, the EEC just opens the injectors like 90 percent. So adding more fuel is simple as addng bigger injectors, the EEC doesn't care or know. The issue is getting them toned down when you're not WOT just idleing along. One thing FOrd did is add a hell of a Fudge Factor. The stock programming will run the car rich WOT stock. So raising the boost from the factor 10-12# to 18 and over is one of the first mods most do (I run 18 with the IHI. When I switch to a Garret, I'm shooting for 22). Removing the knock sensor will net about 25 across the board. Adding a decent intercooler and bumping timing are also good and the computer will tolerate it. Porting the exhaust manifold along with gutting and knife edging the upper/lower intakes is also a nice mod and will have no effect on the compter. Pretty much all you can do to get you to about 350 hp and the limits of the factory 35# units, are all easily done with no extra EEC tuning.
It takes major mods and major money to get past that 325-350 number with the 2.3T motor. Not worth either in my opinion. It's fun as hell to drive with minor mods and the sounds are musical! (not to mention the good gas mileage as long as you keep yourself out of boost, which is pretty easy to do)
