I am planning to do alot of work to the coupe when taxes come in to get it running like it should again. One of the many things is a full tune up. Like all of us probably when replacing stuff I never go back to just stock stuff. That just wouldnt be right. So.. I am looking for some of the better spark plug wires, plugs and other equipment that comes along with doing a tune up. I would like to order all of the stuff together so I was just looking for some real simple advice on what would be the better stuff to buy. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Ford Motorsport 9 MM wires
If the car is stock..Autolite 25's Gapped 42-45
Timing at 14* with spout out..
Factory cap and Rotor From Hi-Lo
Tp Sensor adjusted with ohm meter to .99
Change Fuel Filter/Air Filter

Just a Few Personal Suggestions..Others may Have Different Opinions..

Good Luck

I agree with what he said.

What fuel do you currently use? If you raise the timing too much, you might HAVE to run 93.

I always left my timing at 10-11 so I could drive on 87.

I disagree with the FMS 9mm wires. They pretty quickly start breaking down and I, and others, have witnessed them arcing to anything metal through the insulation. After this happened to me, I got a set of Accell wires that have been good, but there's also MSD, Taylor, and others. I do not recommend the FMS wires.

Clean your mass air meter and the air intake temp sensor (if you have one of those). Also, the O2's might need to be replaced.
Change the oil/filter
Check your hoses and belt and replace if necessary.
That's all I can think of right now.

Accel 8.8's about 5 years old and still going. I am thinking about changing them only because they are so old.

I've been using Taylor Spiro Pros for years and love them. Very small boot at the spark plug and they fit very well. Price isn't bad, either. Last set I bought was right at $40 shipped from Summit, IIRC.

I prefer Autolite spark plugs. You'd need a model # "25". They can even be had at Wal-Mart... :)

Last couple of years, I ran the Bosch plug wires from Autozone with a life time warranty. Never had a problem with them, but at every tune up, I'd take'm in and get a new set. Switched to MSD super conductor wires this year for FFW contingency money which they conviently withdrew for the 2005 season

Last month I bought almost every cap out there (except for motorcraft). The one I finally did not return was the Conrad cap and rotor set from Autozone. Some outzones I went to claimed not to carry the cap.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that replied. Hopefully soon the old dailey driver will run the way it should. Also wanted to ask how and with what would I clean the Mass air meter. I surely dont want to break that. Thanks again for the help.

Were you having issues with the other brands?

All the other caps seamed to have either cockeyed terminals or it looked like there were not evenly spaced. Cause I can tell 1° with my naked eye (yeah right)

I just wasn't happy with the construction till I cot the conrad. Accel, Borg warner, Autozone house brand, Napa all suxor IMHO

For those that have the 9mm on their car now, I challenge you to open your hood, with the engine running, at night. It has to be very very dark, so maybe in the garage or something. You may be able to see the wires arcing over to things like the oil filler tube, valve covers, fuel line (like that's safe!), etc. Also, there was a site that had the resistance of several wire brands and the FMS 9mm were reading pretty high AFTER they were used.

Rus,

I've heard of that issue with the 9mm and did that "test". I didn't see squat on my car. But that doesn't mean I won't change to a nicer set of wires when the opportunity is right. :)

Did you rev up the engine? I can't remember if they arced at idle or not, but they definitely arced on my car. Can't remember how old they were.
