I pulled the amps and amp rack out of the trunk of the stang in an attempt to pull some weight out of it. For the first time since about the first 3 months I've owned the car, it has NO amps in the trunk for the stereo. Everything is now powered off of the head unit. Those amps, and the partical board were pretty heavy though, along with the wiring and solid brass power distribution blocks. I wonder what may happen next? :)

I know... I'd LOVE to turn this thing into a coupe... like what happened with Stormin Norman's old vert when Steve Grebeck chopped the top off and welded on a coupe roof. But the problem would be finding somebody who could actually do the work nicely, then ofcourse finding the parts. Atleast that way I wouldn't have to start all over on the chassis.

HAHAHAHA
I actually did some car parts removal of my own yesterday. While installing the B&M shifter for my AOD last night, we had part of the dash and center column apart. I have not had a stereo of any sorts in the car since it was stolen about 3 years ago. Troy asked me if I ever planned to install a radio. I told him I didn't think so. He pointed out there was no need to have the metal bracket which holds the radio in the dash. So, out that came and and maybe 3-4 lbs. Also removed the metal brace under the steering column worth a couple of lbs.
/me is slowly turning his car into a gutted race car. :ity:

I know someone, actually two someones, who could do that job very nicely. But I would fear what they would charge for such work, I could promise you that it would be a lot cheaper to just buy a coupe and move things.

A coupe with the saleen body kit would look nice. Isn't that what Larry Felts had on his old Street Warrior car?

Yeah that's what Larry ran.
I just wonder what kind of ball park a conversion like that would cost. Getting a stock coupe and doing the sub frames, roll bar, rear end, interior, cleaning it up to atleast the same level my vert is at, and THEN moving the drivetrain over would be a royal PITA. Now finding a roller that already has all of that done would be nicer, hence why I've teased NintyLX about selling me his car as a roller. But finding a clean notch, with all of that work done so all I would have to do is swap drivetrains is going to cost a pretty penny as well.
Ugh, new doors, back wind, roof, pillars, side windows, ugh.

Not always, that guy Dave88LX who gets on the Corral and Turbomustangs, I believe paid not too much for the yellow coupe he has. From what I remember it is rather clean and already has the cage in it and I think it had a Saleen body kit on it but maybe I am confusing two coupes. Rollers can be found for cheap from time to time, just a matter of finding someone who is fed up with their car. You could buy my friend Ricky's blue coupe, it has a cage and a 4-link in the back of it, too bad it would not be "legal" for most racing classes.

Warwas got a decent deal on his new ride. Almost perfect paint, 9 point cage, subframes, etc... then transferred all of his drive train over to it. $3k I believe is what he said. Almost complete black interior, had the firewall already in it, put his k-member under it, etc...

If I would have gone as far as putting a stock front suspension in my LX and pulling other items out to make it a roller. I'd probably taken $4-5k for it, would not have been a coupe but would have been pretty much good to go for dropping in all the parts from another car. though the ladder bars I think cause a problem in certain classes when racing.

9 point?? How's that work?

Yeah, those < $8k coupe rollers are just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
Aaron, I didn't realize your car had ladder bars! Got any pics of the suspension?
PS - any idea what's up with turbomustangs.com? I can't believe it's been down this long.

Find a mint $400 roller ( ;) ) and you can have your hardtop swap pretty cheap. You need a real rollbar anyway, so why pay for a cage into a vert instead of paying for a cage in to a hardtop. The money needs to get spent either way. SFC's.... you should have some beefier ones anyway.
Fuel system would be easy to swap. Motor and Trans would be easy. What would take you some time is making it exactly how you want it while you put it together (like my dumbass, lol).
I was adding up what I have in to mine... remarkably LITTLE for what the car will be when done, even buying new stuff.
I still say.... buy a stock coupe (see em for $3-4k). Swap your stuff in to it. Put the stock stuff in to the vert, then go back to driving/cruising it OR sell it and get MOST of your money back that you spent getting the coupe and having work done.
Then again, you could just get a rollcage in the vert and keep on truckin'!

Yeap, comp engineering/custom ladder bar setup. My car has a lot of crap, big old money pit. It is quite surprising to me that it is taking me so long to sell it. I probably have some pics from when it was being done and if I remember to I could take some pics this Sunday.
I can only speculate why that site is down, my guess is when going to the new server it is taking a long time to get the database to import.
