Went out last night to make some passes after adjusting the tensioners on the blower belt. I asked a dude I know to help line me up in "the grrove" at the starting line and that seemed to do the trick...

1st run off the trailer I went for broke... 5500 on the t-brake, light came down and POW! This bitch hooked and went... hard! Wheels came up 6" and carried for about 30 feet then settled down nicely, tripping the 60' with a 1.45. OK, I admit it, it scared the shit out of me! (in a good way). About 300' out I felt the car "jiggle" a little and being that I was in the advaced state "holy shit!", I short shifted (about 6500 instead of 7k), kept in it and was rewarded with a 10.23 @ 130.44!

I could have braketed this car last night as it ran a string of 10.2s and 1 10.3 losing the blower belt about 3/4 track (my fault on this one, I guess you're supposed to tighten the nut on the idler after you adjust it :trout: )

The other good news is it kept the alternator belt on all night, so I think that one's licked.

Several local Stangers came out last and the consensus from the 3 other N2K owners is that there are 2 spacer washers missing from behind the blower pulley, putting it out of alignment with the rest of the pulleys. Should be an easy enough fix. :)

Also have video from 2 different angles, I'll put something together and post as soon as I can.

Video as promised. This is the 3rd run of the night which wasnt as sweet as the 1st one, but the footage from the 1st run is in another dude's camera.

Not sure what's up with the auto-focus at the end there :ashamed:

Almost forgot... check out the ET database 1/4 mile ET and MPH records :ity: :woot: :racing:
Who will be the 1st in the 9s????

Congrats Chad! I'll bet that first 10.20 pass felt awesome with a mix of "HOLY SHIT" and "I don't wanna let out of it now!" :D

Nice pass there, Chad. BTW..the only reason you are currently at the top of PMFR's ET list is because Ben has never updated his times. He still has you covered by a .10.

I thought he still had me covered but thought I'd throw it out there anyway :)

Ben, what was your MPH? Mine was down 3-5 that night, I can only guess due to slippage on the smaller pulley.

Another thing I discovered while researching the pulley spacing is that the previous owner ran the blower belt incorrectly. He had it running between the 2 idlers, but according to the picture on Paxton's site it should run under both idlers, thus giving more room for tightening the tentioner (see pic HERE (http://www.paxtonauto.com/systems.asp?Action=GetPart&Part=1001824) )

My mph was 133. :)

As for the belt routing, Kelly @ Paxton said it'll go either way. They recommend having 8/10 ribbed belts go in between the 2 idlers as you get more belt wrap that way. But the cog belts can be ran either way.

Maybe I just need a 1/4" shorter belt or something. This one is a little tight to get on, but when I crank on it the 2 idlers will touch each other. If I move the lower idler down 1 hole then the tensioner bottoms out before its tight enough. *sigh*

Well since you're running a cog belt, run the belt on the outside of the lower tensioner pulley.

I'm running an 8-rib, not cogs.... yet :naughty: :D

uh oh. well here's another tip then. Get an 8 rib belt that just BARELY FITS. After a few runs it'll loosen up and stretch. I would get a new belt that was so tight I would have to bump the motor to draw it on over the blower pulley. After a few passes I could pull it on and off by hand...still tight but I didn't have to bump the motor to draw it on anymore.

Made another run tonight and the track was hookin again! If it keeps this up I'm going to have to re-evaluate my position on how we have a crappy track ;)

I'll cut to the chase... 1st run off the trailer was a 9.93 @ 130 with a 1.43 60' :jaw: Can you say "Chad was stoked!!!" ? I knew you could. What was amazing about this run was that my plugs had started to foul up in the staging lanes and I had a REAL hard time bringing the Rs up on the converter at the line. Took about 3 seconds to get it reving, and I left the fan on which really screws with the ignition. I think there's more in it.

Tried to back it up w/ a 2nd run but the transbrake deceded it didn't want to hold on the line and I rolled right through. They were ncie enough to let me back it up and try again with the same results. Crap. I can hear the solinoid click when I hit the button, and reverse works, but it just doesnt hold in 1st. I just loaded it up and brough it home, haven't even looked at anything at this point. Hopefully its something stupid like low fluid level.

On a side note, the blower belt is almost perfectly aligned now that I added 2 thick washers behind the blower pulley :thumb: I even did a Ben buy using a belt that was so short I could barely draw it on to the pulley by bumping the motor over. By the time I tightened it down you could play music on it. Not sure where my boost was on that run, but the MPH makes me think it wasnt all that high :(

That's all for now. Could use some advise on what to look at on the t-brake since I'm not real familiar w/ them.

Thanks!

Nice Chad!!! There's definitely more ET in it based upon that MPH!
