My friend asked me about them. I had NO idea. I know what it is, but what all is involved? Approx what kind of costs are you looking at to mini tub a 94/95 GT? He wants to put 325 DRs on his car, but doesnt want to jack the rear end up like this guy....

OMG!! ROFL! Yeah, I'd advise your friend to do ANYTHING except that! haha
Has he tried rolling the fender lip and "massaging" the inner fender? I think he might be able to do it without mini-tubs.
That picture is hilarious.... :)

I dont think rolling the fender would help. They stick out the side waaay to much too. What we know so far...shorten the axles/axle tubes, coil over setup, fuel cell

Not sure if this matters to you on the West Coast, but mini-tubs excludes you from most of the FFW classes that are "financially feasible."
Does the car have the nutsack to need 325s?
Obviously, mini-tubs is no small project....

FFWs out here suck. They aren't for points. Basically an overcrowded test and tune. If you're lucky, you get some contengincy(sp?) cash. Last year, I just went for the girls :wack-it: Plus my tranny was in 1,000 pieces :ashamed:
He doesnt care about it either and I'm not sure if he'll even go through with them. He just wants a wicked ass street car. So far it has a 347 w/ 8.5ish CR w/ AFR 205s. No intake or cam, but he's thinking of just a spyder EFI elbow or one of those 'breadbox' uppers. Will prolly get a custom cam. He started peicing together a turbo setup a few months ago. So I'm thinking it has the balls, but we'll see when its done... This car has been in his carport for almost 3 years now. Looooong build up, but its fun to wrench on it.

Typically a "mini" tub doesnt need all of that stuff. You use a deeper offset on the wheels to get a wider tire in there once you widen the inner fender well. I've heard of guys relocating the the shock mounts for better clearance, but most of the stock style stuff stays put.
Fastguy did his that way, maybe we can get him to tell us what all was done.

that tire looks like a 30" slick not a 325x50

I think most of the drag radial class guys run 325/50/15 which is close to a 28" slick. That picture looks more like a 325/60/15 which would be around 30" to 31" tall. I know the tires on Dwayne Guthridge's car looked nothing like those do. He should be close on fitting the 325/50 on the car because I have seen several 94/95 model cars run 28" slicks. just my thoughts.

hmm...I can fit a 28x10.5 ET drag on my car. It gets a little rub around corners b/c my stock sloppy susp/bushings. Would the 325 be equivilent(sp?) to a 10.5" slick? Or wider?

The section width on a 325 is around 13" so it is going to be quite a bit wider than a 10.5" slick. I have seen 315/35/17 on many SN-95 cars but they are only around 26" tall, but they fit under the car as far as width goes. You will need a 10" wide wheel with the proper backspacing to fit them on the car. oh, one other thing. That car looks like ass in that first picture.
