I went home for labor day weekend and decided to attend the Matagorda County Mud Drags and watch my brother run. This is a race with a 250 ft mud pit off of a pro tree. Well they needed an anouncer and offered to pay my brother $125 a night to call the races so he called me up to the tower and told me to suit up and I was driving tonight. This was my second time driving the truck my first experience wasnt very good, but he knew he was leaving with $125 no matter what.
First Pass:
4.05 vs 4.22 Win
2nd Pass
3.93 vs ??? He got out of it becuase I tree'd him so bad
3rd Pass
3.86 vs 4.02
New Track Record for Super Gas
4th Pass
4.75 vs Redlight
Was lucky on this run becuase I picked a bad rut and went up against the burm in the middle. I took home first place in the process
Wish my report was as good as the previous night :(
First Pass the truck left wheels up :eek : Yes it pulled the wheels on luanch. I fought it all the way down the track, but never saw the other guy. People said I was close to the burm on the top end but never hit it. Went up to the tower and my brother was ginning ear to ear. Told me if it would have went straight would have broke last nights record.
3.90 vs ???
Next pass I ran the guy I set the record against. He is one of the only racers that cut .4XX lights consistently infact thats how he wont the previous round with a 4.02 vs 3.93.
Lights were his .448 vs my .461. I was suprised when I didnt drive around him. When I got to the tower we found out the truck only went a 4.11 vs his 4.06 still a close race though. Well I went to the losers bracket and ran the truck he beat in the first round that ran the 3.93 so I knew I would have to make sure I cut a good light on him, I only had a .016 advantage at the starting line and ended up losing with a 3.99 vs 3.95 :(
When I got back to the pits we pulled the dipstick on the Tranny and found out that hight gear was shot and the truck left in 3rd gear until it unwelded itself. :eek:
My brother got in the truck to put it up and high gear was so welded together it would barely move. So the truck went 3.99 with a screwed up tranny. :eek:
A little info on the truck it weighs in at 3500 lbs and has a 408 in it with Cast Iron Pro Action 23 degree heads. It made 780 hp on the engine dyno. He has the same theory as me that paint doesnt make a truck fast :)
He caught alot of crap about me setting the track record in his truck too :rollin
