I'll take a stab at this one, lord knows I've swapped out a few over the past few months...If your just changing out the rear end and not the control arms then jack up the car and place it on jack stands just before the lower control arms. With the car up in the air and the wheels off the car, place the jack under the center of the rear end to support it. Then take out the bolt that holds the shock to the housing on each side, and lower the jack enough to try and wiggle the spring out... if it doesn't come (depends if you have aftermarket springs or not) then take the bolts out of the upper control arm that go to the housing. After this you should have the springs out of the car and the rear end connected by the two parking brake lines, the main brake line and the lower control arms. Unbolt the retaining bolt for the parking brake cables and then unhook them from the T looking connection in the trans tunnel. Then take a closed in wrench and slide it down the cable to where it is mounted on the car and use the closed in wrench to push in the clips to get the cable out. Once you have the cables free, unbolt the brake line (watch out for fluid) and then undo the lower control arms bolts and the rear end is ready to come out.
Hope this helps. It isn't too bad I can swap one in a afternoon by myself with no problems but a second set of hands always helps.

hey Big Shot! I really appreciate your help, couldn't have done it without your tips. Next time I'm in Houston I'll buy you a beer. What a nightmare though. Luckily I now have a 93 cobra rear with new 3.73s in it. Talk about a night and day difference. We had a hell of a time trying to get the uca's to bolt up. really strange, but the test drive came out really well. So much for somewhat decent gas mileage now:p

Chris, no problem man, that is what this site is for. Getting everything lined back up is the hardest part of the job! So you swaped in a 93 Cobra rear with disc brakes huh, did you change the master cylinder or P brake cables? What wheels are you running and how does it look with the extra 1.5 inch width of the 93 rear end?
On the beer issue...I'll be at FFW Ennis in Sept. Look me up and I'll take you up on the offer!

Awesome, you'll be in Ennis. Just look for the black on black GT with a big ass PoMoFo sticker on the back. And that beer is a definite.
