Went to the track twice this past weekend to try and dial the car in a little bit better, espically after pulling the motor due to the oil pump nightmare. Well, Friday after work I went to HRP to try and finally get a ten second time slip. I still had some work to do to put the car back together do to loosing the keys (that's another story all together). I wait around and let the temperature outside cool off, set the air bag to 25psi, et streets to 11 psi and the timing up a bit to 31 total and try to make a pass. First pass the nitrous button doesn't activate so I abandon the run. Bring it back to the pits and solve the problem and try again about 30 minutes later. I launch the car and it reponds well to a 1.55 60' but then the car hickuped a bit at the 1/8th mile and then fell on it's face. It ended up with a 7.0 1/8th mile and a 11.1 1/4 pass with only 114 mph on the big end....one simple cause, bottle emptied right before the 1.8th mile. So I get the car back to the pits again and I'm in a good mood, I change the bottle out and while in the process I short the 6AN nitrous line across the positive battery terminal and burned a hole in it ending my night. Thanks to Troy for all the help on Friday, after my night ended I enjoyed helping out with Alex Mandy's Renegade car.

Saturday morning I called around and found a replacement line at Texas Performance and went and picked it up and put it in Sunday morning and rerouted some of the nitrous wiring. Then I decided to go try a little testing at HMP on Sunday, I get to the track and the damn nitrous button decided to crap out on me again on the first pass. After screwing around with it for about 45 minutes I gave up and went to the little performance shop at the track and bought a NOS momentary switch and wired it in. First pass of the night the car responded with a 6.87 at 99 with a 1.53 60' (with 60 psi of oil pressure this time). I tried 20psi in the airgag and 11 in the tires and it went right towards the tree at the hit. I made a few more passes last night messing with the timing and air pressure, most passes in the high 6's. The weather was brutal, high humidity and about 80 degrees.

I'm going to make one more trip to HRP to tune the car and get it setup before FFW in Ennis on the 17th. I have realtives in town this weekend but I may try and run at HRP on Sunday 9-5-04.

6.87 huh? Sounds like you were plagued with troubles, but it sounds like it's running nice now.

Wish you could've hit the 10 at HRP, sucks. Maybe its the HRP gremlin at work. Went back to HMP and did well.
