View Full Version : How Fast??

Does anyone have an idea of how fast "The Other Yellow Luv" is? He currently holds the #4 spot on the HRG board.
A guy that I know called him out and has asked me to help him tune up his car in order to acquire the #4 spot for himself. Nothing like a little pressure.

Whats the index? Isn't it a 6.0 index? If so, knock .25 off that and thats probably what it runs. 5.75 1/8 mile.

I'm not sure what the index is.
If he can run a 5.75 and we run faster are we going to be DQ'd? How does this race work??

Ain't that the truff! I read where someone ran about .25 under and was booted, while a guy that ran near .40 wasn't...

That's about the skinny of it. Supposedly you can't sandbag...yet Bad Z obviously did and wasn't DQ'd. So you never know.

Well, the good part about this whole deal is that I won't be there for the race!!
The bad part is that I have no idea how fast the truck is. I guess I'll just tune it up, see what kind of number it'll run and hope for the best. I know that the car has been faster than a 6.00 and I also know that I can make it go faster than it's been, by about two tenths. After that, my job is done, it's on the drivers back to win or lose the race.
The REALLY bad part....I have to work on a Chevy.

If the king requests the back tires, then you can go as fast as it takes to get around him! Just have your buddy put a half car on the king and he'll win it. You've already got one good thing on your side, it is a CHEVY and Joe loves Chevy's.

My guess is 5.80's at the fastest, 6.0's at the slowest for that spot.

Sounds good.
We're headed to Sealy tonight to dial the car in a little better. I'll let everyone know how we do.

I'm sorry, but that whole concept is just stupid to me. Make a HARD index and hold that number.
WHen I was with Carl last time, it seemed out of control........you have to go run down Joe, make your case, and do so without whinning.
"I lost but I won!".............."No No No.....I won and thats thats!"

Yeah, you don't whine about it, you have to get raged up about it and be on the edge of getting in a fight with the other racer. Joe runs it that way because he doesn't like "BRACKET RACING". When you go up and start bitching about the other guy going to fast, the other guy starts bitching, this ain't bracket racing, etc... I say I know and if my car were faster I'd be racing the next faster class where you should be racing! 6.50 in a 6.80 index was too fast PERIOD! My final pass was a 6.77 deep staged, would've been a 6.6x staged normal.

For the Clobberthon to be right...........he needs to make real rules and the fastest wins. If he doesn't like bracket style then he can make the rules more restrictive as they go.
#1 King - anything goes, just be the fastest door slammer
#2 King - Backhalfed cars, fiberglass galore, any CI, any pwr adder, but a 10.5W
#3 King - stock position rears, fiberglass hood and decklid only, any ci, any pwr adder and up to a 10.5W
#4 King - same as #3 but motor ONLY
#5 King - same as #3 but small block with only 1 power adder and limit turbos
#6 King - same as #3 but with 28x10.5 or smaller and NO trans brake
#7 King - no fiberglass, small block only, limited 1 pwr adder, and small tire
#8 King - no fiberglass, original OEM production block with production heads, no trans brake, orig. position rear end, and no trans brake
YOU GET THE IDEA...............make it heads up but limit each KING.....you can modify the rules as each event goes to make the racing good and competitive.
Just a thought.

LOL @ "Kooterthons"
(IMHO) No one we know should actually RUN in these events expecting to win -
they're entertainment only. It's like WWF has merged with Redneck Racing. Personally, I find it very entertaining! :yeeeeHAAWwww!:
Ever since Bubba took the number 6 spot at Sealy and loaded his car up to go home (which he was doing before Joe asked him to run the other guy) I knew what kind of show he was running. I loved it when Bubba wouldn't take his car off the trailer to 'defend' his position right then and there. It was hillarious when Joe shat his pants! Joe being Joe, told Bubba he had to defend it the NEXT weekend at the Nasty or lose the spot! We both cracked up at him and the guy that Bubba beat. :bwahahah:
Visit that website and try to read it without cracking up.

yeah..........thats why I am calling out the Roaming Gnome (Travelocity.com) to defend the #18 spot!
I don't know where he is right now............but I can't wait to take that spot!
Last I heard he was sunning in Tahiti, after coming back from the slopes of Aspen, before that I heard he was a friend of Joe's.
